That C-17 shot is amazing, also what type of plane is that camo one? I saw it at the Nassau flyers two weeks ago.

Yea, he keeps sending parts to Italy I think. I have seen it for years and have taken many shots of the engine runups but never a flight. I think it is one of 3 left and the only one flying.....well now I can say that without following up with a WELL....KIND OF!
He was just flying right around the airport and did not go far at all just in case.... I do not blame him, but I long to see that doing a flyby at the beach. Then I will be truly happy that he has shaken that thing out. 8)
They are gearing up for the US Open. Both Sheltair & Atlantic have a line-up of Lexus SUV's & luxury sedans just awaiting to be picked up. Expect tomorrow & Monday the 8th to have quite a bit of biz-traffic in FRG.
Surprisingly, it's rather calm at FRG today (Saturday). usually the day of the Belmont Stakes, Atlantic's ramp is so full you can barely move. There are a few aircraft here, but a lot less than I would have expected.

Maybe the lousy weather the past week has kept them from coming in earlier.
Or its the "Tough economic times". :)
It is SheltAir, I am not shocked.
Hmmm do you have an issue with SheltAir???? ;)Quote:

Anyone watch the race and see the helicopter parked in the back along the first turn? Looked like a Agusta 109
to me. Im not sure but i think in the past they might have had a temporary pad set up for copters with VIPS and
public safety ships.
Also was there a blimp being used for the aerials that I saw? No one was parked at FRG.
Great ending to the race.

Minutes after writing this post I hear a Sikorsky S-76 contacting JFK advising they were landing at Belmont.
Belmont Park has a registered helipad 4NY9. It is used as a soccer field most of the year, they paint the helipad lines a week before Stakes Day. This year's Stakes Day was actually not that bad, we had 50,000 patrons as of 4pm and the final count may be close to 70,000. There was a flyover around 10am, I missed it as I was getting my 25 EMTs and 10 Paramedics deployed throughout the Park. Belmont actually offers some great spotting sites for the JFK 22s. If anyone is ever interested in a tour of the facility or wants hassle free spotting access just lemme know.
No blimp, just a news chopper. :-/Quote:

Thanks "Medic" and "Gotham"
i agree, it's a great spot to watch. i've been there on a few race days, my father was the on-site physician there for a while.Quote:

Got there just as they came in. Even the Tower was surprised when the pilot advised they were going to Atlantic. I also sawQuote:

Another cool moment was just after Noon and I had just left the Main Terminal after using the "facilities". Walking to my truck and what do i hear but the unmistakable sound of an approaching HUEY!!! It was coming in from the East and I grabbed my binocs and finally saw the ship. It was an Army medevac Huey and it must have been at least 5000 feet
up heading W/SW.
Damn I love that sound!!!
:D :D
Today the Camo L-39 flew, it looked like he went out to Jones Beach.
They were met by US Customs as the aircraft came in from Calgary, Canada.Quote:

Wow, SheltAir is getting quite a beating business wise now since the airshow eh?
Tiger came in today to play a practice round of golf at Bethpage. Headed home to Orlando after that (early aft).
Did he use FRG?
Ernie Els' G-V N526EE is sitting over at Atlantic. Tail is blocked, so I'm not sure when he got here, but I can state it was after 9pm last night, and before 1145am today. ;)
I noticed at Shelt Air there's a ton of luxury cars cars all lined up waiting for VIPs. Looks like FRG is going to be a busy place.
US Open, Bethpage Black, next week. Atlantic has them too their lined up along the access road along 109.Quote:

Pics tonight after work.
Caught Snoopy 1 departing around 3pm. They dragged her nearly to the runway before launching. It may have been a short flight - as I was headed home, there was a line of ominous looking clouds headed east.

Yup a rain line moved through around that time but nothing like the one that hit around 2:30 this morning!! Wow!!
I wonder if Snoopy is here for the Subway series game on FOX tomorrow.
Maybe, but perhaps they are here for the US Open. As I was heading home, I saw them circling over central Nassau, perhaps scouting out landmarks for shooting during the tournament.Quote:

My grandma worked for MetLife when I was little and I used to have an inflatable one hanging from my ceiling.
According to the MetLife Blimp Schedule, it is scheduled to cover the Open, starting next Thursday. Doesn't mention the game tomorrow, but I wouldn't be surprised if it made an appearance since they have nothing scheduled for several days.Quote:
