Certainly looks like some "black ops" type of mission going on. They all have extra antenna's on the ships that are not standard issue.
pix please!Quote:

I remember last year around this time Grizzly had about 3 Bell 407s hanging out on the Atlantic ramp.
Did a quick ride by before my daughters soccer game and there was a USMC UH-1N "Huey" parked along
the fence at Sheltair. The 3 man, 1 woman crew was prepping to depart (10:55) and unfortunately I couldnt stay around but it was very cool to see.
It was in the grey colors like this ship... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Uh-1n_takeoff.JPG
with the crew in khakis!!
Whats the story with that Cessna (N80192) sitting on a dolly between the runways by the trees? Been there for weeks.
Not sure exactly, but because of it the "compass rose" used to calibrate the aircraft compasses is out of service.Quote:

Did you think of asking someone what they are doing? Or afraid the MIB might make a visit to your house? :lol:Quote:

It could be worse, at least they did not slash the tires like this one!

And here I was thinking that the Cessna was some kind of "full-size" weathervane! Maybe if they mount it on a turntable, it'll point into the wind!
I noticed that airplane actually last summer for sure when I was going around the patch in an LF bird. I have asked some souls of longer history to FRG about it than I and they said the same thing Fred did.
OK, I just got buzzed by an F-18 here in Melville! I'm busy getting stuff done at the office when I heard a very unique noise that I don't hear too often. I could tell by the sound that it was a military jet. I was told there were 5 overhead all told. I ran out of the office just in time to see the last one fly by, circling for an approach to 14. I'm guessing Navy jets (not the Blue Angels) based on light gray paint.
Anyone know why they are here?
Weekend off maybe??? Sheltair is a stop on the way home tonight!Quote:

Hi everyone! I am still around! Friend of my passed and I kind of been avoiding the airport, annoy Chris S. every so often lol. For those who don't know me just look for the blonde that never shuts up and is usually dragging a kid or 3 around. I saw Fred way in the distance. Hi Fred, he didn't see me. Well I talked to one of the workers at shelter air and they said the jets will be leaving sunday at 1-1:30. No clue why they are there. Sure Fred will know everything. Ill take a ride by in the morning after tee-ball. I have an altima now. So if you see me wave lol. Oh the jets are way behind shelter air so not the greatest place to get off a shot. I didn't even try
Hey Christina! Sorry to hear about your friend.
Glad to see you back in the game. See you in a couple weeks!
Sorry to hear about your friend as well Christina.... I did take about 600 pics and got some neat angles. Here is one of your more standard angles

600 pics?!
That pic of the hornet is absolutely beautiful.
That one came out great Fred. I'm downloading now, will post some shots as well later. Of course, they won't be as good as yours. :wink:Quote:

Thanks guys. I spent the last day of the show last year on the tarmac with my friend so u can see why it sucks. We sat for hours waiting for the fog to go away! He owned top flight over by atlantic
Fred any reason why they are here?
Tim! How are you doing? how is your little one? Probably not so little anymore. My husband got laid off so I have 24/7 babysitting this year woohoo lol No kids sure one of them will beg me to go
Okay as promised, surely not as good as Derf's as I left the 40D at home, and only had the G11. So here goes:

Great shots but its not fair. You get voice mails, txts, twitters you name it alerting you of great photo
opportunities.
THEN, while we poor slobs have to shoot through, over and around fences you have unlimited access to the
tarmac and hangars.
Its not fair I tell you......NOT FAIR!!!!!!
