Thanks guys!
I just saw what looked to be a Pilatus PC-6 fly over my house.
Nice plane. Any Beavers or Taylorcraft regulars?
FYI - Kenny gave me a heads up that the Metlife Blimp was at FRG this morning. It took off for a flight down to the beach just before I got there at 12:30 and it looks like it will be based at FRG for a couple of days.
At 4:50 they flew right over my head in Plainview heading to the NW. The Met game had some aerial shots of Manhattan today I wonder if they were coming from the blimp. The announcers never gave credit to who it was then of course maybe they tried but Keith Hernandez doesnt shut the "bleep" up!!:wink:
In addition to the Metlife blimp there was a lot of T-6 action from the museum today. Both Truman and Deb were flying around.
Here is some aerial footage I DVR'd from the last time the Metlife blimp was over at FRG, I totally forgot about it.

Yeah, the Metlife Blimp sure did a great job catching the Hawkeye taking off from FRG during the Golf Channel telecast over Bethpage Black last year. Thanks for posting that video on here, Ken !
Caught the Metlife Blimp landing tonight at FRG and FYI the crew said they're scheduled to be based at FRG until August 1st or 2nd.
Just got this in my email box. Anyone know what movie they are filming at the Main Terminal? Must be a major motion picture if they are completely shutting it down for this length of time?
To: Republic Airport Tenants & Users/Operators
From: John P. Arancio
Assistant Airport Manager
Date: August 26, 2013
RE: Main Terminal Ramp Closure
Wednesday, August 28th - Monday, September 9th
The purpose of this memorandum is to notify all tenants of the temporary closing of the Main Terminal Ramp and the Main Terminal Lobby from Wednesday, August 28th, 2013 until Monday, September 9th, 2013. This closure will be twenty four hours per day and is necessary to accommodate a movie production that will be using the Main Terminal Ramp as a film set.
As a result of this closure, ALL pedestrian and vehicular traffic must avoid transitioning the Main Terminal Ramp during this time. Tenants should utilize the Echo Ramp vehicle and pedestrian gates to access aircraft parked in that location and fuel trucks must utilize alternate routes during ramp closures.
Please review all NOTAMs for updates or changes to this notification. If you should have any questions or concerns regarding this notification, please contact John Arancio, Assistant Airport Manager at 631.386.6107.
We appreciate your cooperation and apologize for any inconvenience.
Thanks for the info, maybe they'll have some special aircraft visiting for the movie shoot too if we're lucky?
BTW, Speaking of special visitors, I heard the P-51 Mustang "Quick Silver" should be arriving sometime
on Thursday for the AAM Labor Day Event this weekend
Yeah, I originally heard that "rumor" also, but think the info was all false? All I know is that Scooter performed his
Demo up in Plymouth on Sat. in Quick Silver, and heard he should be at the AAM this weekend as scheduled.
Awesome news Chris. Glad to hear it was all a "rumor"
Sounds like they're probably shooting a TV Series called "Alpha House" starring John Goodman because that TV production is now filming at Kaufman Astoria Studios in Queens also http://cdn-cf.aol.com/se/smi/0201d20638/02 http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3012160/
That "Alpha House" is planned to go right to Blue Ray exclusively through Amazon.
So much for major motion picture. Lol!
Actually, the "Alpha House" pilot was already released on Amazon back in April according to this link:

Mouse makes a funny. LOL
Lol mighty Moose
Has anyone spotted John Goodman?
Haven't spotted Goodman, but it looks like they could be shooting TWO Productions over at FRG right now.
The Main Terminal ramp is packed with ALOT of stuff and heard they might even have a C-123 aircraft visiting too?
I saw "Alpha" signs up last week for "Alpha House" and I also heard they're shooting the new NBC TV Series
called "The Blacklist" this week at FRG too. "The Blacklist" stars James Spader and it premieres on Sept. 23rd.
Oh, yeah. I think it flew in yesterday. It was on the ramp by Sheltair
How close can you get to the area without being hassled?
Oh, also, how do you guys find out what's filming?!
So then, how does one join fight club? :P
You put your left foot in. You take your left foot out. You put your left foot in and then...wait that's not it. That was to join the how to jet around the world without a job club.
FYI- I was able to talk to the C-123 crew while they were taking a break at Sheltair set this afternoon,
and if all goes well with filming this evening the C-123 should be able to depart in the morning hopefully.
BTW, they blew a cylinder head on arrival and it has been repaired and tested, so they should be good to go.
AAM was shutdown today for filming as per their FB page!! Were they shooting inside the hangar?
They were actually shooting inside the Sheltair Hangar today with the C-123 and the parking lot
between Sheltair and the AAM was packed full of support trailers and production equipment.
I was able to see John Goodman and Mark Consuelos through the fence during one of their breaks.
Here's the C-123 after departure from FRG, overflying JFK at about 5,000 feet

Beautiful night and was standing in front of my house with wife and friend of ours when I hear this roar and turn around to see a big ass plane low coming in from the north. It was a Miami Air 737 (not so big ass but compared to the usual G4s it was) heading onto the Runway One Four approach!! Looked very cool!! Hockey charter time!!
Hey Gerard, Here's a pic of Miami Air I caught last Jan at FRG. I know what you mean- she looks like a huge bird as compared to the biz jets out there. This one is N738MA.
