fred, any idea who that sabre belongs to?
National Guard?
From Fred's photo, it looks like the BuNo is 159365. According to Scramble, it belongs to Training Squadron-86 (VT-86) Sabrehawks out of NAS Pensacola. The F/A-18 looks to be out of VFA-87 out of NAS Oceana.Quote:

Nice shots!
I was all set to go out to Nikon in Melville to pick up my lense from repairs today and swing by Republic for a while. Turns out when I called Nikon they were closed today but Nikon due to Good Friday, thus scrapping my Republic plans.
Hopefully they will be there on Saturday or maybe staying for the weekend due to Easter.
Again nice shots!
I'm going to check them out in the morning. Hopefully they are still there...
I liked my I do not know answer better!Quote:

By the way why would 1 hornet from vfa-87 stop by ...? just curious where is the rest of the squadron?...
Ken
Probably a pilot who needed some flight time to maintain currency or meet training requirements, and he decided to make a hop to FRG for the weekend. May very well have family/friends in the area, and used the training sortie to make a visit. It's not unusual.
Love the 727. When she came in I was on the other side of the field. Great looking bird.

I was there today I saw the 727, F-18, T-39 and a WII era US Army Air Corps Trainer, I forget the name of it but on the side it said T-237 I believe John has a couple of pictures of it.
I'll try to go Monday morning and catch the take off.
Here she is leaving....Quote:

What time was that? I went out around 7 to pick up some food and the ceiling by me was pretty low. We left
a friends house at 11 and the fog was pretty thick. Looks like its breaking up now as I see the glorious rays of
Easter sun breaking through. :D :D

I didnt see T-237 but DID see TL-723 :)
And the N # N2155F comes out to a Piper PA-28 but "registration may not be suitable for operation".
she took off around 7, weather was allot worse than it looks as I was close... I could not the end of the runway at times...Quote:

You guys talking about this one?
http://www.moose135photography.com/A...37_V2aVb-L.jpg
It's a North American T-28 Trojan - it's not a WWII era aircraft, they were produced from 1950 to 1957.
Thanks. And yeah this time of year it'll be warm during the day and once the sun goes down.....brrrrr.Quote:

Dats the one. :)
Yeah that's the one I saw. I got the numbers mixed up.
I went to FRG today at 10:30 and the F-18 was gone but the T-39 was still there. At 10:50 an HH-65C Dolphin from the AC CG came in and left at around 11:30. It looks like they were getting the T-39 ready so I assume it will depart today. Pics below.

It was good seeing you again at FRG this morning !!
What the hell, there were more jets at Farmingdale than there were at LGA!
I have NEVER seen more bizjets in my life than I saw in the hour or so I was there!!!
I just wished some of these were keepers.

Fred, that's the end of the last school holiday weekend for this school year. Probably wont be that busy here again until Thanksgiving. Great shots! The way you shot the L-39 in the sunset is outstanding!Quote:

Great shots Fred!!!
Then I apologize, 'cause that's even more impressive! Catching all that detail in the C47 with the sun at that angle? Bravo!Quote:

fred, i love the panorama. i didn't know FRG turned into gulfstream country.
It has ALWAYS been Gulfstream country. Fred, the G3 with the fish on the tail used to be a SRQ frequent visitor. Very nice plane inside and out. And of course, one of my darlings.... 101NY. Good catches all around.
While I understand there are lots of Gulfstreams there, I was trying to explain that there was a very UNUSUAL amount of jet traffic.Quote:
