On a side note, I did think the Skytypers telling me by writing it in the sky was a bit overkill!

I went to FRG today and it was like a ghost town, here are some things worth mentioning:
F-18's are still there as expected.
The NFI Husky was flying around
The 4 helicopters are still at Atlantic
There was a all black Cessna at Atlantic but they moved the plane before I was able to get a shot of it
Are the 1:00 - 1:30PM departure time for Sunday still accurate?
I was going to ask someone at sheltair but there was no one there. I guess we could assume 1:00-1:30 is still accurate. Is anyone planning on going?Quote:

Count me in.
I'll be there. Going to go when I wake up to see if I can find out any more info. Found great wifi over there so I will bring my laptop in case I hear anything
Fantastic photos, as usual!
Now I've got 2 questions for those more in the know:
1) Will New Highway be inaccessible on Sunday and if so, how would you get up close to Sheltair?
2) And for those of us without field access, what would be the best place around the perimeter to go watch them depart?
(ok, maybe that was really 3 questions).
Construction is from Mon-FriQuote:

If it uses 14/32 (which it most likely will) the best place to watch them or take pics when they depart is across the street at the main terminal.Quote:

I just went by. Couldn't find anyone to talk to, my kids were making me nuts so I left, but they were not even prepping yet. I saw someone sitting in the parking lot. Hi whoever it is lol. They are using 32 to take off today so I will probably be at the end of 14. Going to head back over at 11:30 without kids this time
Great shots as usual Fred. :borat: I'll be out in a bit to catch their departure even though they're not Super Hornets. :D We've had quite a few visitors out of MCAS Beaufort the last few years. VFA-86 is actually their last resident Navy unit.
Rob, give me a call if you like bro. I'm out in the Depot parking lot sipping on some Mr. Softee.
I just drove by and it looks like they are prepping the jets so 1pm looks like the right time
i'm not familiar with the runway numbers. will the F18's be taking off towards home depot or new highway? thanks and see you there....we'll be in the red jeep.
Still going through pre flight. Firing the engines. Looks like they will be going off 32

Pretty good crowd along New Highway next to St. Charles and at the end 14/32. The three went off about 1:25PM on 32 and broke to the right over the AAM, just sorting through some shots.
Got back late from my daughters soccer game and was sitting by 110/Spagnoli when they flew over the HiltonQuote:

It was very cool to hang out Kenny and hope to do it again soon! :borat:
I went by Home Depot and I didn't see anybody so I decided to watch from New Highway and I got a pretty good view and some decent pictures.
I was sitting at a red light along new highway when I heard them take off....man was I upset. Had I arrived 5 mins earlier I could have snapped some nice shots :(
As I type, the Geico crew are flying over my house. Hindsight being 20/20, I think I may have been better off firing the 400. Fred, thanks so much for the hook-up and the laughs man. Your kids are bonkers lol!

It's funny, I actually turn into a "Fan" when I meet these guys. I've done business with sports stars & celebrities many times & I've never really been "starstruck" but when I meet these guys, for some reason I turn into one of those dorky fanboys!
He had no idea that the 18's were even there and laughed when I told him that he was probably flying over the Jones Beach Monument when they took off.
He said that Andrews was amazing this weekend and the the flight back up (1:05hrs) was beautiful. He's a great guy who was very nice to my wife & kids when we met. A real pleasure to speak with.
Beautiful coverage guys. I was holed up all weekend and was sitting in the Hilton at 1:25 PM during an eye conference when I heard them barreling over.
You guys done me proud!
That's me in the creamsicle FUBU jersey....have ladder will travel!Quote:
