Taking the kids to their activities now, then hoping to make it for 1300. Look for me in my black n' green tie die shirt!
W 2 kids and milf in tow!
Happy spotting ..... passing on going. The light is horrible to say the least, and who know about the rain. Had a misty rain in the HoBe area earlier.
Sorry I can't make it today. Found out too late and it takes me with public transportation up to 3-4 hours to get there by public transportation from Sheepshead Bay. Car service is out-of-the question for those of us on fixed incomes. Will definitely try to come next year. Not thrilled about having to undergo TSA screening as it would delay entry and cause long lines. Are cameras definitely allowed? I don't recall seeing any photos from the event in 2011. From what I read, only 2 aircraft are available to board. For future reference, is this event always held the final Sat. in Sept. annually? Hope the "plane pull" makes todays' news.
Potty stop in NYC. What's there right now?
If I'm still around next year, I will certainly go. I'll splurge and take a bus roundtrip from the PABT in Manhattan for $28 R/T then board the AirTrain. My last visit to EWR was unpleasant so I stopped going but this could be fun!
The show at LaGuardia had more aircraft but this was a great opportunity to see a 767-400 up close. Aside from a 737 towing contest there were some light aircraft scattered about along with some airport equipment but that was about it. Odd that you had to go through security for this event but not for the LGA one. Also it was a rare treat to see the Saudia VIP 747 up close
Got home around 4, but then had to cook, dinner. Downloading the cards now. There was only 1 aircraft to walk through, the UA, Star Alliance 767-400. That was the downside.
They did have a UA 737-800 they were using for the Plane Pull competition. Other than that there were a few Cessna 172's, a T-34 trainer in a nice paint scheme, an all-white push-pull homebuilt, a Piper Archer, as well as a turbine prop homebuilt. There was also, 2 snow removal vehicles, UA giving "rides" (of the vertical kind) in 2 deicing trucks, and a mobile haz-mat truck.
However, the highlight was being able to shoot EWR from inside the fence. The light wasn't the greatest, but, with the clouds the way they were, I was able to shoot departures off of the 4's as well as catch some ground movements after landing.
Highlights...(pics to follow over the next few days)
1) Saudi Kingdom 747-400 which was parked right across the ramp from the event.
2) SAS Star Alliance A330
3) Continental retro scheme B737-900
There was also an inbound UA 737 with a flap problem and they rolled all the trucks, just in case. Thankfully, there was no incident, and all got to their gate happy.
It was great meeting Ben & Mike, and it was good to see Mario at the airport with a camera again! Thanks again for mentioning this event, I'm glad I made the trip.
Traffic was a breeze too, so that made it that much more enjoyable.
Decided, I needed to throw a few pictures up from today. Here we go:

John, thanks for the confirmation on the SAS Alliance... no 15 year sticker  so I don;t have to go in vain :)
Now Kingdom 747, that's sweet!
Nice shots John! Ditto on the Kingdom 747 (boy would I like to take a peek inside that bird).
Great shots despite the weather, that 744 against those clouds looks great!
