This has to be one of the luckiest angles ever captured...a shuttle launch as seen from a passing Air Canada flight. It was uploaded last month, so possibly STS-124.

"Holy Smokes!"
Yeah, I forgot to warn you the guy's commentary is annoying, so it's best if you lower the volume. :)
Think he was Canadian? If so, remind me never to sit next to a Canadian on a flight during a shuttle launch.
Heh. I saw Discovery on the pad at Canaveral from a DCA-FLL flight a couple weeks prior.
that is SOO cool!
One would think the TFR should have been wider. Even though there was distance there, I really dont like the fact that a commercial airliner was that close to a launch.
The launches go out over the ocean, so when there's something coming off the cape, traffic to South Florida is routed SAV J174 OMN (Ormond Beach), and then the STAR for the destination. Northbound traffic goes ORL CRG, so it's probably not as close as it looks. The guy has a BC accent, but the launch was on a Saturday evening, which is prime-time for Caribbean-Canada charters, so I can't quite trace the flight.
Had the video gone on about 10 more seconds, we would have seen SRB separation.
Thats got to be the most annoying Canadian ever. Holy smokes! lol
I think Dane Cook gets that prize. Actually maybe this IS Dane Cook.Quote:

That's a wild video though, not a vantage point you see from everytime.
