She was circling just north of Times Square for at least an hour this afternoon. There might have been an event down there, not sure. I do know DirecTV is going nuts promoting a new service only for Manhattan residents which is kind of a big deal and there are ads for it all over the city...aimed at people whose apartment buildings don't allow dish setups, you'll be able to watch every NFL game through your regular internet connection...$350(!) for the season.
Some new shots :borat:

Well, it's not from today, or even this year, but I came across an envelope of photos, and threw a few on the scanner. These are from March 11, 2004, when President GW Bush visited Long Island during the presidential campaign. He flew into FRG on the C-32. Arrived on Rwy 14, parked over by JetCenter (now SheltAir) and departed that evening off Rwy 32. These were shot with my old Yashica SLR:

I had gotten there early, and had a spot at the fence so I could shoot through it, then SCPD came down and moved us all back about 10 feet:

Blast from the past. I remember how crowded New Highway was as people drove past to get a glimpse of AF1.
Good thing they kept you guys a quarter mile + 10 feet away. Who knows what kind of destruction you might have wrought without that extra 3 1/3 yards of separation.Quote:

I saw the B-25 flying today.
Not only the B-25, but the Berlin Airlift C-54 arrived a little after Noon. Both will be here all week, the C-54 will be open for visitors over Labor Day weekend, the B-25 is offering flights. Photos to follow...
The C-54 is a beauty and I saw the B-25 buzz in and out and in again. I love the pop-pop-pop of those engines when they crank up and land, just so old school. :DQuote:

I took a few dozen business jets this week, what is really amazing is the amount of
general traffic and biz jets I get but feel they lack punch compared to the stuff
that goes in and out of the AAM. Gulfstreams are just too common when your
looking at a C-54, C-47, P-47 etc.... but I do like the UA paintscheme on the
Casino charter

Cant beat those old birds!!! Just the fact that they are flying 60 plus years is just very cool.
You are watching history when you see them.
Bizjets would be more appealing if they had better paint jobs.
Yeah, pretty boring stuff...Quote:

One of the few exceptions. Most of them look like they get painted at the Winnebago factory.Quote:

Thanks Phil! Let me just say, the C54 is some ship. The work they've done to her both inside and out is nothing short of amazing. She alone makes the visit well worth it. Also, my time at the AAM yesterday was the best yet! There was delicious food, and besides the usual toys on display, we were given a tour of the old control tower which was friggen cool!

Does Trump need a crew chief? Hehe.
As far as I know, the Trump 727 has barely moved from its LGA parking spot this summer. I suspect Donald has been sneaking out to FRG for some more economical transport. No way to tell for sure, but I think it's safe to say the economic collapse, particularly in real estate, has erased a large chunk of his wealth. Some of his properties, i.e. Trump Las Vegas, were struggling before everything went down the toilet.
VP-BDJ isn't here, she left for MIA at the beginning of august and hasn't returned since.Quote:

No, VP-BDJ is Trump's 727, VP-BJD is a G-V:Quote:

Glad to see they got it fixed in time. When it came in during Friday's monsoon (approx 4pm), the left inboard main tire blew on landing. The sound, from inside the office, with a driving rain going on, still sounded like an M-80 going off. They were able to taxi to Atlantic under their own power, but that that tire was visibly devoid of air when it was parked. At 6:45pm when I left the office, they had a mechanic looking at it with that "how did that happen" look on his face.Quote:

That A320 snuck in under my nose. In other news while outside of one of my companies hangers doing some runups on a kingair there was a Global which I did not catch the reg on doing some touch and goes on 1. It is not a FRG based bird though.
Miami Air parked on the back Atlantic ramp having brought in the Pittsburgh Penguins and Kalitta Air over by Sheltair
having brought in Mr.Ed. :) Today at 1:30.
Oh yeah 76DT in from NW along 1-9 then out quickly to the SW.
Sitting on Atlantic's ramp a US Army Merlin Metroliner. #910504....Have not seen one of those before.
One of my friends just told me the Special 30th Anniversary White F-18 Legacy Hornet from Oceana is at FRG right now ???
Has anyone else seen it over there yet today ??
It will be at the main terminal. Just a few visitors that came through this week. An Air Canda A320 was sitting on the ramp at Atlantic a few days ago when I left. Yesterday when I came back there was a Miami Air 734 in it's spot. On another note, my company transported Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony yesterday from FRG to OPF on the G4 as well. Marc is very down to earth and a serious chain smoker.
Good heads up guys. As soon as i read about the F-18 I scooted over there, grabbed some shots, hung out awhile now home. Round trip 1 hour.
The Miami Air is usually a sports charter for the hockey teams. One is sitting there now.
The special 30th Anniversary White F-18 is over on the southside of Sheltair.
I met Moose over there this morning and he will be posting shots later.
From what I heard so far, it looks like the F-18 will be taking off on Sunday
either late in the morning or early afternoon.
Anniversary F-18, cool. I need to take a ride. If any departure times pop up please pass them along. Thanks.
