#1 - P-51: Aircraft isn't centered, and you clipped the wingtip on the left side of the photo.
#2 - B-17: I don't like that crop, it looks cut off. I would prefer to see the entire #1 prop and forward part of the nacelle, plus the whole top turret. Plus, it looks dark/backlit to me. And on second look, it may need a touch of CW rotation, the edge of the building in the background looks like it is leaning.
#3 - P-51: Again, not centered in frame, more space on the right hand side of the photo. And the horizon doesn't "feel" right to me, maybe a touch of CW needed?
#4 - P-51 Tail: Horizon not level. I see what you were trying there, but the horizon bothers me too much for it to work.
#5 - BizJet: Not a fan of the tail-on shot, high in frame.
#6 - B-17 Waist Gun position: Not bad, I like this, but I'm not sure of the exposure, and I don't know about how you clipped the window at the top right - either show the whole thing, or be a little more aggressive in framing it, right now it looks like you got sloppy with cropping.
Wow.
Here are my observations;
#1 Bits cut off, soft, centering
#2 cropping, motive, backlit?
#3 soft, centering
#4 motive, level, soft
#5 soft, level
#6 motive
Have you been listening/understanding what has been suggested in many other emails? Any chance you can go out and shoot with someone, since it is obvious you are getting by reading emails/forum posts.
Dude .. Seriously, not trying to be a dick but please stop posting the same type of photos over and over. You get the same answers over and over and nothing changes. As I recall Manny has tried to help you from day one and I guess you have not taken any action. I have my self told you what to do.
So again, Please for now FORGET Anet and Jetphotos.
LEARN how to edit your photos, improve your photography, if you are so desperate for your photos to get on the 2 big sites, take your time and read and study as to what they want on their guides.
yes i know haha im so use to just doing 8x10 im sorry I dont really know there image size :\ im just use to doing 8X10 lol but thank you for the helpoh no dont worry your not being a dick but please try not to act like one. And i know hes helped me and i thank his help and dont worry im not Trying to get these photos on the "big" sites as you call them Im just trying to get them to look good..:) and im sure you would do the same thing to if you got a really good photo and you didn't know how to edit the first, second time you would post it on two-three times just to get it right so try not to criticize me..im sure you would do the same thing to and dont worry i am learing how to edit my photos and i was never desperate if i was desperate enough i would of gone WAY past this posting at least 6-7 photos or a whole slide show My goal here isn't to get them on A or J but would be nice but my goal here is simply learning how to edit aviation Photos/planes ect,and seeing who likes them or not And Im sure you were desperate at one point in your time to get your photos on as well but i can stop posting as i do post to much lol but just letting you know i was never "desperate" to get photos on.
I give up too. This one is a real winner.
Lucas, click here and good luck. http://www.jid.me.uk/tutorial2.html

Mike, looks a bit oversharpened in some areas like stair handles and cheat lines... otherwise I like it :-) Good luck.
Lucas, this is the wrong thread for you. Please DO NOT post in this thread unless you are pre-screening to post to Airliners.net or JetPhotos.net or any other major database site. For general photo editing questions, you should be posting on the Photography sub-forum.

Manny it's like dealing with a troll. The more you entertain him/her/it, the more post we will be seeing from him/her/it.
Jid Webb is a awesome photog and guy as well!
That is certainly a great guide. It helped me a lot when I was lost during my first 100 rejections ...
Although I believe much more in learning the theory and the mechanics and science that make the controls do what they do... So to that end:
Color balance: "The Canyon Conondrum" by Dan Margulies
Light: "Light: Science and Magic: An Introduction to Photographic Lighting" by Paul Fuqua and Fil Hunter
After reading just those two books, my way of seeing the natural world as a photographer totally changed for me.
Knowing the basic components, it is much easier to apply the science of photography to any new purpose... from Landscape to Aviation to Studio... it becomes more about how to set the controls than about what to do. Exposure is how everything starts.
Bonjour from France, all. Been playing around lately and would like comments on the following photo. It was already rejected by anet for reasons that all made sense, so this is a new version. Beyond getting this pre-screened, I would really like to understand what JP/anet really expect/want. Most of my rejections are due to softness and low contrast (like many people I think)... which is fine, but I'm having troubles grasping the result that the screeners want to see. Especially contrast, I'm usually way off. I'm trying to learn my histogram, the fatter it gets the more contrast you get, but I guess I don't know what the sweet spot is.
Anyway, here goes, let me know. Full version here: http://www.instantscaptured.com/Port...k7GDv&lb=1&s=O

Hehe. I realize there is not one universal formula, and I try to inspire myself from what I see on the DBs so I do have an idea. I should've worded my post better. I guess I'm just trying to figure out how to notice when my contrast is way off as I'm doing my post processing, and when it's closing in on an acceptable level. I don't have that "eye" quite just yet.
Bwahahahaha
Okay kids. What do you think about this one for jp? Unfortunately when she pulled away from her gate she went into the black hole of the ramp. Figured it was worth a shot since it is a rare bird, and the spotting location is only available in the winter (15' high snow bank so I had a view over the fence).
Who knows if any will be flying next year, KLM has already retired 3/13 MD-11's.

thanks
Hey Rom;
What to jp/anet like to see? Very contrasty and over-sharp in my opinion. The first one looks like it has a blue tint to me, the second looks decent for jp for an evening shot. I have had pretty good luck just using the auto contrast feature in CS3. Often the shot does not look a lot like what I remember the actual image looked in my minds eye. After auto contrast and levels adjustment it is just another catalog shot.
I will take a whack at the originals.

I don't have overly high hopes for this one but maybe it'll get in...Trying to go 2 for 2 off my phone...that'd be a better ratio than my actual camera!

It could be me but possibly odds are the aircraft dont look fully centered. we can see what Manny, Cary, Kenny or Nick V will say
Could have an issue with Soft, Grain (probably added when A.net processed the pic), and Centering (left to right). A.net likes their pics really sharp.
thanks guys.
a.net is being annoying rn, and is having the bug where it gives you the default image. i'll show you the revised copy tomorrow. Goodnight everybody.

What about this one guys. If you have a comment/tip, can you guys maybe explain what I can do to fix the issue.
Also, it seems I am having trouble with sharpening the aircraft, when I see others on A.net and even the American 773 manny edited for me, my sharpens just don't look good... Any help is much appreciated.
Looks low in the frame.
Swiss looks a little red.
Thanks everybody, anything on the sharpning??
Ok guys, lets hear it!!!

Too much dead space around the plane. It'll get a motive rejection.
Is there anything i can do about that or do i have to start over? :(
Is that the only reason (please tell me if there are others, i like constructive criticism)
Thanks wunala!
