The highlight for me is the America West 707.
Amazing footage. I don't think that's from the hill though, I think it's at the bottom of the hill on airport property.
It needs more PAA 747's! :borat:
America West never flew the 707. It looks like a cargo conversion of an American 707.
America West at the time had up to 4 747-200's from KLM, but that was the only large aircraft they ever flew.
This was def shot ground level on the south side. It wasn't until the mid to late 90s that LAX started to develop the south side with the cargo complexes and GA buildings. That is def not an HP 707 btw...as Art said HP never flew the 707.
Sometimes it helps to read the caption ;):
So, it wasn't a HP 707, and the footage was shot at the old Imperial Terminal lot and FedEx lot.Quote:
Los Angeles, CA LAX -circa 1989-90 watch DC-10 'heavies' transition LAX years ago - also - rare footage of a British Airways DC-10-30 ... all » landing on 25L and assorted aircraft. This is VHS film I shot from the old Imperial Terminal lot and the FedEx lot - note the Florida West 707 at the end..long before some of the young kids were born..the 707 was a 'real' jet.
Fine, just 'cause I didn't have my glasses on...
Plus I'm not very observant. :)
