And just like that, we're less than a month away from this year's UN General Assembly. Man, where did all that time go? Hope everyone is doing well and is enjoying the last bit of this excruciatingly hot summer (in NY, at least).
Some findings on potential new visitors... Australia has recently taken delivery of two 737 MAX 8 BBJs (A62-001 and -002) to replace the aging 700s. Both of the 700s have been put into storage already, so hopefully we'll get to see one of their new birds this time. Zimbabwe's president now flies on a state-owned Falcon 7X (Z-AZM). It would be nice to see Zimbabwe back in town again, despite not being the Air Zim 767. Netanyahu is finally flying on the State of Israel 767 (4X-ISR), so hopefully no more El Al charters for them. Finally, and probably most importantly, Nigeria took delivery just a couple weeks ago of an A330-200 (5N-FGA) to replace their 737. The president has already flown on it several times, so I expect this one to come this year. That's all I've got, please let me know if I missed something.
Looking forward to another great year. Talk soon!

Had so much fun doing a road trip down from Toronto for last years UNGA that we are planning on doing again.
Will be staying at the Hilton TEB from the 21st thru to the 24th.
Looking forward to all the updates.

Another new government aircraft I forgot to mention in the last post... Kyrgyzstan! They recently replaced their Tu-154 with an A320 ACJ (EX-10001). Kyrgyzstan has not brought the Tu-154 to New York in ages (if at all), and I'm not sure if that's because of operational limitations of the Tupolev or because they don't fly their state aircraft to New York. Regardless, I'm throwing it out there just in case. Unfortunately, this would be the last of the classic government aircraft retired, as far as I know. Burkina Faso's 727 has been grounded in Europe for about four years now, so I don't expect that to fly again. They've been chartering some smaller biz jets recently.
Will be staying at the Hilton TEB from the 21st thru to the 24th.
Hey David! Have a great trip. Which airports are you planning to hit when you come?

EX-10001 is ex N548JB of Jet Blue so was a frequent visitor to JFK when it operated with them.
Will probably visit SWF, HPN, ISP, FRG and EWR in addition to TEB so any heads up on arrivals into all of them and I guess also JFK will be appreciated.

*EI-LSN (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aU31XAm_cEY) is now painted in the colors of the Guinean flag and has a Guinea sticker on the tail.
Most others appeared to have flown commercial. I don't anticipate everything to be exactly the same for UNGA, but this should give us an idea of what to expect out of Africa.
Will probably visit SWF, HPN, ISP, FRG and EWR in addition to TEB so any heads up on arrivals into all of them and I guess also JFK will be appreciated.
Not a problem, I'll be keeping an eye on anything and everything.

And another new govjet… Jordan recently took delivery of a G700 with registration VP-BXS (thanks to my friend Dohwan for finding that one). I hope it comes this year, it’s a beautiful airplane.
I haven’t seen anything come in yet (granted, I haven’t been paying much attention). I expect some of the Middle Eastern guys and maybe the Brazilians to start trickling in late this week/early next week. They usually bring some people over early.

Seems like, over the last few years, we've moved away from "EVERYONE COME IN ON SATURDAY AND SUNDAY!" so I'll have to choose what I want to prioritize, but being 100% work-from-home should help. I assume that the heaviest days will be 9/19 - 9/23 as the General Debate begins 9/24.

I thought about creating FR24 alerts for every government aircraft and usual callsigns...but then I remembered the work you do during UNGA and realized I won't come close to what you provide. Thanks in advance!

Yeah, that sounds about right. The UN is holding a two-day Summit of the Future on the 22nd and 23rd, and there may be quite a few leaders attending by the look of things, so some arrivals may be earlier than usual this year.

I'm blushing, haha. Listen, no one's perfect, so you may catch something that I'll miss.

Here is this year's provisional speakers list. Looks like a solid list, but it's from July, so things may or may not have moved around.

**All times reported in local time, four hours behind Zulu**
Saturday, 9/14
1935L: Let the games begin. HZ-SKY4, an Alpha Star (formerly Sky Prime) A319 ACJ, is on final approach for Kennedy from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia via Shannon. Some of the Middle Eastern countries usually start bringing people over a week or so early, so safe to assume this is UNGA related. Thanks to JacobCW for finding this one!
2255L: SKY4 repositioned to Newark right around 2100L (thanks again to JacobCW for keeping me updated on this one).
Monday, 9/16
0750L: I want to give a huge shoutout to JacobCW for being on top of tracking stuff. Thanks for all your help the past couple days. As expected, Brazil is joining the party early. 2590, a VC-2 (E190), is en route to JFK as BRS03, with an ETA of 0920L. They're scheduled over to Islip at 1000L, but they never turn that quickly, so expect that to be later in the 1000L hour if not in the 1100L hour. HZ-SKY4, the 319 that came in on Saturday, departed Newark last night headed back across the Atlantic.
1025L: Brazil 3 is at JFK. Another Alpha Star seems to be inbound… HZ-SKY1, an A340-200, is descending over Rhode Island on the Kennedy arrival track. This should put them into JFK in about half an hour. It’s coming straight from Riyadh, so maybe another Saudi Arabian delegation jet?
1110L: SKY1 did indeed land at JFK about 15 minutes ago. Brazil 3 just departed for Islip. SKY1 will probably position to Stewart or DC if I had to guess.
1340L: SKY1 departed JFK about half an hour ago and is just arriving into Stewart now.
Tuesday, 9/17
1015L: Brazil 3 is scheduled out of Islip at 1140L, headed back to Brazil. There is a massive Qatari delegation meeting with Trudeau in Ottawa today and tomorrow (two Qatar Amiri jets are already there, and two more are going today), so expect some of those to start coming down tomorrow or Thursday.
1730L: Brazil 3 out. SKY1 departed Stewart just before 1500L and is crossing the pond towards Europe. A Colombia 737-400, FAC1209, is on approach into Stewart now from Dayton and will be landing shortly.
2220L: Colombia is at Stewart. Not UNGA related but a Ukraine Air Alliance Antonov 12 is arriving into JFK around 2300L. Really cool stuff! Tomorrow, there's a Royal Netherlands Air Force A330 MRTT scheduled into Kennedy around noon from Cologne. Callsign is MMF67, and registration is T-057. I think these Dutch MRTTs are part of some joint venture between the Netherlands, Germany, and some other country. Probably not a head of state coming, but most likely UNGA related. They're scheduled to position to Dulles around 1400L. That's all for tonight, see you tomorrow!
2355L: Sorry, I know I said the last post was all for today, but just wanted to put this up before I forget. For the Teterboro spotters, unfortunately there will be no Namibia Falcon 7X this year by the looks of it. Their president departed Windhoek yesterday on a Eurowings commercial flight.
Wednesday, 9/18
0915L: Here comes the Netherlands/NATO/whateveryawannacallit MRTT. ETA is just past 1200L. Callsign MMF67, tail number T-057. Supposedly one of the Qatar Amiri jets is coming down from Ottawa this morning. I'll keep an eye out for that.
1050L: As expected, one of the Qatar birds is inbound. A7-HJJ, an A330-200, just departed Ottawa for JFK as QAF5. It's just over an hour from Ottawa to NY, so expect them to land just shy of noon.
1115L: Another Qatar. The 340-300, A7-AAH, just departed Ottawa, also headed for JFK. ETA shortly after noon.
1330L: Qatar 5, AAH and Nethernato are at JFK. Qatar 5 is on line for departure already, headed to Dulles.
1425L: Qatar 5 out. AAH and Netherlands are on line for departure now. Netherlands is definitely going to Dulles, not too sure about AAH though.
1500L: AAH and Netherlands out. AAH is going to Stewart, Netherlands to Dulles.
1625L: Jordan’s new G700, VP-BXS, appears to be inbound either to LaGuardia or White Plains. Callsign is RJA951, and they’re just northeast of Albany descending thru FL300. Will update once I’ve got a better idea.
1700L: LaGuardia it is. They’ll be landing shortly.
1955L: Jordan in and out. They’re repositioning to Islip now.
2130L: I think that's about it for today. The Colombia 737-400 is scheduled to depart Stewart at 1600L tomorrow for Dulles. Kuwait's 340-500 is scheduled from JFK to Stewart at 1600L tomorrow, as well. There's no inbound filed yet, but I imagine they'll get to JFK around 1400L (for those who are new to this, two hour turn for gov jets at JFK is a good rule of thumb). Hasta maņana!
Thursday, 9/19
0820L: Kuwait is on the way. 9K-GBB, their 340-500, is crossing Ireland headed for the Atlantic. Callsign is KUG002, and they should be getting into JFK around 1500L.
1440L: Kuwait is almost here. Probably about 15 or so minutes till touchdown.
1710L: Kuwait in and out. Currently on its way up to Stewart, should be there in 15 or so.
1815L: Kuwait is safe and sound at Stewart. VP-CAL, a chartered 777-200LR, is also at Stewart. It came into JFK on the 5th and repositioned to Stewart on Sunday the 15th. I didn't think this was related to UNGA, but apparently it's another Saudi Arabian bird. VP-CMA, a 737 MAX 8 BBJ, is also in town. It came through Newark yesterday and repositioned to Farmingdale. Not sure if it's for a specific delegation, but this thing has apparently gone to other UN-related events in the past, so I can assume it's here for the General Assembly. It flew from Hong Kong to Hawaii earlier in the month, lingered around Hawaii for a week or so, then stopped in California on its way to the NY area. Gotta give credit to JacobCW for finding both of these.
1845L: Colombia’s 737-400 departed Stewart a short while ago for Dulles. I think that’ll be about it for today. If I see anything else, I will let you all know. I’m going to start a new post tomorrow since this one’s getting kinda long.
2100L: One more update for today. Netherlands MRTT just departed Dulles and is headed back to Cologne. Australia’s KC-30A (A330-200) landed at Philly just over an hour ago, presumably for the quad summit in Delaware on Saturday. I honestly don’t know if these guys are gonna fly from Philly to New York this weekend, but we’ll see. Ecuador is coming in tomorrow morning. FAE-052, the Falcon 7X, is heading into Teterboro at 0600L as FAE1. There’s currently nothing on the schedule into JFK tomorrow, but I doubt that means there won’t be anything coming. I’ll be watching the radars like a hawk the next couple days. A reminder that tomorrow’s updates will be on a new post.
2115L: VP-CAL is on its way down from Stewart to JFK now. Ecuador has two flights filed to Teterboro now… one that arrives at 0440L and the other that arrives at 0600L (same flight number and aircraft - not two separate planes going in). The time sucks regardless, but in case someone wants to go out there that early for them I’m putting it out there. I will be awake for their arrival, one way or another, for my flight to UNGA. Hope to see some of you guys out at JFK this weekend!

**All times reported in local time, four hours behind Zulu**
Friday, 9/20
0525L: It’s a Falcon invasion this morning! Ecuador just landed in Teterboro. FAE-052, the Falcon 7X, came in as FAE001 straight from Quito. A Nigeria Falcon 7X, 5N-FGV, just landed at JFK as well. Unfortunately, with Tinubu having pulled out of the General Assembly last minute, this may be the extent of Nigeria’s delegation. HZ-SKY1, the Alpha Star 340-200, is on its way into JFK once again from Riyadh. This should be landing in about a half hour.
0700L: SKY1 made it to JFK. Nigeria’s Falcon is taxiing for departure now. They usually reposition to Dover.
0845L: SKY1 departed for Dulles once again. There’s a USAF C17 inbound to JFK, probably bringing in the motorcade? Callsign is BANNR65, tail number 95-0107. Should be landing in a few minutes.
1015L: C17 at JFK. One of the Turkey A400s, 21-0118, is headed for the New York area as TUAF175. If coming, should be landing in two ish hours. Mozambique is coming tonight on a Qatar Executive G700. A7-CHD is doing the honors, callsign is QQE939. They're scheduled out of JFK at 2245L for Stewart, so probably a 2100L ish arrival.
1125L: There were actually two C17s at JFK, both have departed. Turkey A400 is less than an hour out.
1405L: Turkey landed just shy of noon. They’re departing now and probably will reposition to Dover. Palestine’s 737 BBJ, T7-PAL, is inbound for White Plains and should be landing in about two hours.
1455L: Mozambique is running very late… ETA is not till after midnight now. Turkey did indeed go to Dover. Botswana’s Global, OK1, is headed towards the area as F001, as is Ivory Coast’s G550, TU-VAE, as IVY02. Botswana usually goes to Teterboro, Ivory to Newark and Stewart. They’re both under two hours away.
1535L: I slightly overestimated Palestine’s flight time. They’ll be landing in about 5-10 minutes into White Plains. Ivory is over the Cape and seems to be on the Newark track, as expected. Botswana is headed northwest directly east of the Norfolk area.
1625L: Palestine landed White Plains. Ivory on final for Newark, and Botswana will be landing TEB shortly.
1735L: Ivory is at Newark, Botswana at Teterboro. Switzerland's Falcon 900, T-785, is inbound as SUI005. They're descending through FL250 just northeast of Albany, so either one of the NJ airports, White Plains or LaGuardia. I think they usually go to Teterboro.
1840L: Teterboro it is for Switzerland, they landed there about a half hour ago. Ivory Coast departed Newark and is landing into Stewart shortly.
2055L: Ivory is in Stewart. Gabon just landed at JFK aboard P4-LTI, a Global Jet A319ACJ, calling as GJW55TI. Mozambique managed to make up an hour and is now expected into Kennedy around 2300L. On the schedule for tomorrow are Germany's 350 coming into JFK around 1600L, and a private Global 7500 arriving into Teterboro at 2045L nonstop from Luanda, Angola. This 7500 has been acting as the Angolan head of state aircraft recently, so probably no 2-DEER from them. Tomorrow is supposed to be a busy one, looking forward to it!
Saturday, 9/21
0650L: Mozambique landed just shy of 2300L and repositioned to Stewart after 0200L. Nigeria's Falcon 7X came through JFK again last night. It arrived right before midnight and departed at 0130L back across the Atlantic. Today is gonna be a busy one indeed, as promised. South Africa's 737-700 BBJ, ZS-RSA, is headed towards the area as LMG1. They will likely go to Kennedy, and they'll probably land in about two hours. Japan's and India's 777s are headed towards the area, as well, but they're likely going to Philly or Dover for the Quad summit in Wilmington before coming here. An Iraqi Airways 787, YI-ATC, is en route from Baghdad to JFK as IAW02, ETA 1340L. Also on the schedule for Kennedy today are Kyrgyzstan's 320 (1335L), Germany's 350 (1610L), Vietnam Airlines 787 (1645L), Turkey 340 and 330 (both between 1645L and 1700L), and Italy's 319 (2340L). Tajikistan's 787 has two flights on the board, one that gets in at 1510L and the other at 0045L. In order for them to get in at 1510L they would've had to leave Dushanbe hours ago, so it unfortunately might be the later arrival. I will provide more details on all those once they're airborne.
0725L: Forgot to mention Gabon. They dropped off and repositioned to Stewart around 2230L last night. Turkeys are airborne. TC-CAN, the 340-500, is bringing Erdogan this year as opposed to the 748. Callsign is TRK1, and they departed Istanbul right on time for a 1645L arrival. TC-TUR, the 330-200, is following closely behind the 340 as TRK2.
0855L: Jordan’s G700 departed Islip and seems to be going into Kennedy. South Africa is on the descent into Kennedy over Rhode Island. Will update on others shortly.
0905L: Jordan landed Kennedy. Brunei’s 747-8, V8-BKH, is headed east across southern NY/northern PA and seems to be coming into the NY area. Will update on that one. Kyrgyzstan’s A320ACJ, EX-10001, is inbound from Dublin to JFK as KGC4001 with an ETA of 1330L. One of Germany’s 350-900s, 10+03, is out of Berlin for JFK as GAF948, ETA 1620L.
1055L: South Africa and Brunei are at JFK now in addition to Jordan. South Africa is taxiing for departure. Iraq is now looking closer to a 1500L arrival.
1100L: Sorry for the back-to-back updates. South Africa airborne from JFK, Jordan taxiing out now. Thanks to everyone else for keeping an eye on stuff. I'll be watching over those and providing updates as the day progresses.
1300L: South Africa went to Stewart. Jordan went to Montreal. Brunei departed around 1230L, and just landed at Stewart as well. Another C17 came through JFK and departed. Kyrgyzstan is less than an hour from JFK. Two Poland’s 737-800, 0110 (a regular -800) and 0111 (a BBJ), are airborne out of Warsaw, operating as PLF110 and PLF101, respectively. 101’s ETA into Newark is 2115L, and 110 is stopping in Reykjavik before continuing to Newark. Both will reposition to Atlantic City.
1340L: Kyrgyzstan on the descent, probably 10-15 out. Panama’s Legacy 600, HP-1A, is coming up the east coast and is probably an hour and change out. They usually go to White Plains. Senegal’s 320NEO ACJ, 6V-SEN, is inbound for JFK as SENE001 in 30-45. A Royal Jet 737-700 BBJ, A6-RJA, is not too far behind Senegal operating for Mauritania as ROJ009. Should be coming to JFK.
1455L: Kyrgyzstan, Senegal, Mauritania Royal Jet at JFK. A6-RJA is completely white now. Panama landed White Plains. Oman’s G550, A4O-AE, is descending northeast of Albany as ORF4, looks like Teterboro. Iraq is about 10-15 from landing.
1620L: Kyrgyzstan out, repositioned to Islip. Senegal, Mauritania Royal Jet, Iraq and Germany on the ground. Oman went to Teterboro. Brazil’s 319 ACJ, 2101, is on final for JFK 4R as BRS01. Turkeys are coming to JFK in 45 ish, as is a Vietnam Airlines 787-9, VN-A867, as HVN1.
1725L: Senegal repositioned to Farmingdale, Mauritania Royal Jet repositioned to Stewart. Iraq, Brazil and Germany at JFK still, Vietnam and both Turkeys have joined them. A Global Jet Global 7500, LX-JET, just landed at Teterboro as SVW66JT from Luanda, Angola. Jordan’s G700 is coming back towards the NY area, looks like a Kennedy arrival. Less than 30 out. An Italy 319 ACJ, MM62209, is crossing the Atlantic to JFK as IAM9002, ETA 2310L.
1810L: Iraq out, headed to Stewart. Germany taxiing out now, headed to Dulles. Turkeys and Vietnam will go to Stewart. Brazil will go to Islip. Jordan is back at JFK. Angola’s Global Express, D2-ANG is coming into the area from the southeast. Maybe Teterboro bound, maybe JFK.
1840L: Angola is going to Teterboro, should be landing shortly. Germany off to Dulles. Poland 101 is about two hours from Newark. The other Poland that stopped in Iceland is headed for Newark now, ETA just shy of midnight.
1920L: Brazil repositioned to Islip. Turkeys are firing up now for Stewart. Jordan is taxiing out, probably going back to Islip. A Colombia 737-700, FAC1222, is inbound from the west and seems to be going to JFK.
1945L: Colombia is on the Kennedy track. Turkey 1, Vietnam and Jordan taxiing out now. Australia’s KC-30 is taxiing out of PHL now. I hope they’re coming to New York. India’s 777-300ER is also supposed to come tonight.
2115L: Colombia came to Kennedy. Both Turkeys and Vietnam positioned to Stewart, Jordan to Islip.
2135L: Colombia is taxiing for departure, I think they usually position to Dover. Ghana’s Falcon 900, 9G-EXE, is inbound for TEB off the Atlantic as GHA001. Should be an hour or so left for them. An India 777-300ER, K7066, is taxiing for departure at Philly as INDIA1, headed for JFK. Should be landing around 2200L if all goes according to plan. Poland 101 landed at Newark about an hour ago.
2200L: Poland 101 is departing Newark for AC. Colombia departed, looks like Dover for them. India inbound for JFK, and a Japan 777-300ER, 80-1111, is following closely behind India as JF001. Ghana’s about an hour out, Poland 110 and Italy closer to two. Unfortunately, Australia departed Philly heading west, and I was told they’re going back home to Australia.
2335L: Poland 101 is in AC. Japan, India and Italy are at JFK. India will position to Dover, Italy to Stewart, and Japan will probably go to Dulles. Poland 110 is at Newark. Tajikistan’s 787-8, EK-001, is finally airborne from Dushanbe as SMR001 bound for JFK. They originally filed to get into JFK at 1500L today but never left. ETA is just after 1100L tomorrow.
Sunday, 9/22
0015L: Last post for tonight, time for bed. Forgot to mention that Ghana made it to Teterboro. I will confirm the repositions in the morning. Also inbound tomorrow morning is DRC’s 737-900 BBJ, T7-RDC, as DRC001. Their scheduled arrival is 0600L. However, they were supposed to have left Cape Verde an hour and a half ago and haven’t even landed there yet, so expect at least 0830-0900L. Pleasure meeting a lot of you today, looking forward to another great day tomorrow.
0700L: Good morning! DRC is running about 3.5 hours behind schedule, with an ETA of about 1000L now. Tajikistan is looking to be after 1200L now. Japan went to Dulles and India to Dover last night, as expected, but Italy went to Farmingdale. Colombia went to Philly, not Dover. Poland 110 went to AC.
0720L: Ukraine's 319 ACJ, UR-ABA, departed Shannon for Newark as UKN1141. ETA 1300L ish.
0930L: A Brazil VC-99B (Legacy), 2584, just landed at Teterboro as BRS054. DRC is next to land at JFK.
1030L: DRC at JFK, Tajikistan is about two hours out. Oman’s G550 just departed Teterboro back to London.
1230L: DRC repositioned to Stewart. Another C17 into and out of JFK this morning. Tajikistan is descending over the sound, probably less than half hour out. A Slovakia 319 ACJ, OM-BYA, is headed to JFK over Maine as SSG001. Probably an hour and change till arrival. Ukraine is descending north of Albany for Newark.
1310L: Tajikistan landed. Ukraine landing Newark now. Slovakia descending over LI for JFK. A Qatar 320 ACJ, A7-AAG, is coming north through Florida as QAF4 for JFK, ETA around 1445L. Guinea-Bissau is inbound on a Qatar Exec G650ER, A7-CGL, for TEB as QQE813. ETA 1445L.
1345L: Slovakia and Tajikistan at JFK, Ukraine at Newark. Forgot to mention that another Saudi Arabian jet came in yesterday around 1500L. HZ-NSA, an A310, dropped off and positioned to Stewart. Greetings,
For those interested Israeli AF 4X-ISR B763 Pinging as "AYAL" ferried from LLNV to LLBG 1006Z.
This will probably be the highlight (and a poor one) of a otherwise disappointing UNGA.

Okay back in the Great White North.
Headed home from TEB via ISP, FRG, HPN and SWF.
Here is a log of what Gov stuff we saw plus a DC-3 thats on a rebuild at FRG.
Couldnt see the PAF Gulf at ISP or the Senagal A320 at FRG. Fortunately didnt need either.
Saw 202 new frames over the 5 days. TEB was hopping Friday, Sunday and Monday which more than made up for the lack of stuff on the Gov side.
Thanks for all your help.

Update: IAF B763 has departed LLBG.

Hi Mario,
I had the same problem yesterday and spent 10-15 mins with Mark going over about where it was located. I updated my signature yesterday. Probably should change my Avatar as well. I haven't logged in for a while and it seems the interface is not functioning properly. It was never easy and it seems it been misconfigured since the last time (years ago I logged in). Now you have to do the following:
1) At the top right next to "Welcome" click on your NAME.
2) On the left hand side in the middle of the page next to "Friends" click on the Pencil/Crayon Icon.
3) Options for Avatar and Signature and many other features are on the left side (center)

wow I would've never gotten there! Thanks Senga, and that B720 avatar is awesome
I have to think of what plane to put in mine, but anyways. There are some regular aircraft that didn't show up this year, I can think of the Nigeria 737 (which got replaced by a A330 in bizjet-style minimalist garbage livery. I saw Milei's speech made the news but I don't see Argentina's presidential 757 mentioned here
Kyrgystan shows up after a million years, in an ugly-liveried A320.. Brunei has a so-so corporate livery that's not my style either on their 748
The Turkish A345 showed up again after not coming since.. 2017?

Hi Mario,
Yea too I was shocked to see the lack of regular yearly visitors that did not bring their own aircraft this year. They just didn't bring their planes and instead used the cooperate jet charters like Royal Jet, Vistajet, Gain Jet and Qatar Executive etc. I could not believe the sheer number of Qatar Executive GLFs that showed up this year. This UNGA VIP Week 2024 was/is probably the worst or the second worst UNGA I have participated in since starting in 2002. Over all with each passing year the UNGA arrivals has become less and less impressive. As a side note I will add the NYC, NJ "Aviation Photography Black hole" area these days (over the last 8 or so years maybe 2015-2016) has been on a downward spiral overall as we rarely get interesting or of value anymore. Everything just flies over or around NYC, NJ nearly 4 hours or more in all directions. Throughout the last several years the UNGA used to be our sole opportunity to make up what for what is usually another lackluster or at best mediocre year of useless special liveries (Stickers) and a handful of new types for airlines. Now the UNGA is falling into that same state of just garbage NYC movements.
Although painfully Generic and sterile I did manage to pull of some shots of Israel's 767. The IAF 767 is controversial within Israel so I wanted to get it just in case it gets grounded again.
I was disappointed Kyrgyzstan finally comes back and they bring that A320. Its too bad they never flew in the government T154. I kept wishing it would come but it never did. However if you recall I did get shots of the Airline painted Turned VIP Aircraft for them during UNGA 2005. I missed the arrival because of very bad Solar flares that were causing scanner interference so it was impossible to hear.

Yea those Brunei 747 frames no matter what they bring are Meh- just more Winnebago type scheme that I don't care for. I did appreciate the A340 and 767 they occasionally thew our way.

I remember driving down Rockaway Type one day in 2004/2005 and just as I got close to 22L a Tu-154 with a red tail flew by right in front of us, I struggled to read the titles but it went by too fast. I about had a fit in the car and my ex thought I was nuts. Back then I knew nothing about UN Week. I spent a long time researching what I thought I saw and eventually settled on it being the Altyn Air. At least now I can connect it to the old Kyrgyzstan transport :)
Senga I know you were bored out of your skull this year, I also felt let down given what we got used to seeing 10-15 years ago, but I'd be a baldfaced liar if I said I wasn't totally stoked to see the tail logo of IRAQI AIRWAYS through my lens after first seeing a picure of one of their 747's back in 1984 as a kid. That made my day dude.
Keep your chin up! If we ever get a visit from Aliens I know you'll be the guy to catch those arrivals! :)
Great seeing everyone again after being away a couple years. Thanks again to Matt for the updates as usual

Yes Senga when I found out about the BORING new Kyrgystan A320 I went and looked at your Altyn Air Tu-154, there's no comparison - this new A320's bare white fuselage with that WEIRD bird head which looks like a meme sticking out of the tail - looks embarrassing compared to the sharp paintscheme of the Tupolev back in 2005. Kyrgystan govt recently retired their recent Tu-154 which looked quite nice with its red fuselage stripe and interesting tail logo, and with that gone so are the chances of seeing another Tupolev at UNGA.
Yea those Brunei 747 frames no matter what they bring are Meh- just more Winnebago type scheme that I don't care for. I did appreciate the A340 and 767 they occasionally thew our way.
Winnebago schemes LOLOL:biggrin:
IMO they barely deserve a shot. The new Nigeria A330 (which didn't show up) fits the corporate winnebago category. Shame they didn't apply the green-striped livery of the 737 they used to bring, would've looked stunning. As far as Brunei, they do have a 787 in the good, old livery but ochre instead of yellow; hasn't seen the UNGA yet.

alien arrivals LOLOL
Just imagine all the interesting UN visitors in the early 2000's that weren't recorded because of the whole security theater after Sept '01 which ultimately was used to make the sheeple used to vanishing constitutional freedoms under the guise of "keeping us safe". And there were good obedient sheep who gave excuses on the a.net forums in those days for the gestapo tactics, sadly. While 20-something years later things are easier, by now the most interesting subjects are long gone. Today is 99% narrowbody Airbuses, BBJs and bizjets poop.
Interesting note, apparently Milei/Argentina delegation flew private instead of their 757 - this would mark the first year the UNGA doesn't see a 757
2024 had few standout visitors but on the flip side, some which tend to come in at night showed up in daylight, such as the Iraqi and Vietnam. Turkish A345 hadn't been seen since 2017.

Sorry for the late reply.
Its great to see lots of the old guard on NYCA, it brings back lots of good memories :) It would be great if NYCA was a meeting place again for the locals outside of the UNGA.
Megatop,
I wonder if that was the same arrival of the Kyrgyzstan T154 that I missed at JFK's 22L that morning during the UNGA. It just sat there at the Hanger 19 area unshootable all day long and departed well into the afternoon-early evening off of 13R. BTW this aircraft did come in one time a few months before into JFK. I do recall someone spotting it but no pix. It was on some other new York Area aviation related site. I forgot what that site was though.
As you mentioned things are pretty uninspiring these days during the UNGA. I used to get pumped up and excited about the start of the UNGA but now I just count the days now until its ends so I can get back to doing other things. Luckily with the onset of ADS-B etc and collective spotting I don't have to sit out at JFK alone for nearly 2 weeks every day running around NYC, SWF, EWR, TEB, HPN and beyond like I did for most years. Now its just about filling in the holes with mediocre frames that just add to other mediocre frames.
I pretty much shoot whatever comes in with little or no emotion and no feelings of accomplishment. Like you said 15-20 years ago so many things were super unique and rare one time visitors that usually never came back. I was fortunate to get the final UNGA flights of some of those frames before they were retired. The excitement and feelings of getting some of those truly rare frames was indescribable. Now its just.."STUFF" things you see every year of typed we have shot many times over. So many of the VIP aircraft are not being painted as well as they had been just like that Kyrgyzstan A320.
I am sure the Aliens upgraded their aircraft and would flying in the boring new stuff with crappy markings :)
Mario R,
I respond just how you did. When I saw that they retired the T154 Government frame I was like. OH...NOOOOOOOWW you want to bring in your VIP aircraft.
I looked at the shots on the internet and was like WTH is this garbage? WTH is this silly non serious looking livery? Do I really have to sit out at JFK for 4 hours for this? But yea I was hoping they would have applied the T145 liver onto the A320 that would have been nice.
Those,
Winnebago liveries are really hard to go out for. I usually I just pass them by on the ramp. Like another rock on the side of the road and I don't shoot that bile that gets vomited all over NYC JFK and EWR etc. I went out for the Brunei because it was a new Series 747 but that's the only reason.
I guess we didn't see a 757 for the while thing. sheesh. Who would have thought that not a single 757. I know you remember when we got the Cubana ATR-72 that came in. Now that was interesting....I'd love to know the last time a non-jet aircraft showed up for the UNGA.
I do remember those post 9-11 years and doing the UNGA. It was really rough back then. Luckily I never ran into a problem during the UNGA. I wish I was around NYC in the mid and late 90s I can only imagine that might have come in then . Imagine the 1970s.
Last year was rough because nearly everything that was new for me was a night arrival so I had to shoot them at times times at 2am- what a pain.
Mark L,
Its great to see people conversing on here again- even if it just for a few days. Hopefully in the future the site will become lively again. One thing I have noticed is how the window of time for the moments is getting smaller and smaller. Instead of it being 1.5 weeks it was a week and now it seems we are just a few days of fly-ins and fly-outs.
Mario C,
FRG got some nice reposition this year. I assume you got them all and I am sure they were probably very shootable. TEB and also HPN (up by me) didn't get much this UNGA. Hopefully the next UNGA we will get more new frames.
Senga
