2024 Bethpage Air Show at Jones Beach - May 25th and 26th

The Bethpage Air Show at Jones Beach is just over a month away, so I decided to start this year's thread for it!

Here's the official website link to find out the latest show info:
Bethpage Air Show | at Jones Beach State Park (https://bethpageairshow.com/)

The 2024 Bethpage Air Show will take place Saturday, May 25, and Sunday, May 26, from 10AM-3PM.

2024 Confirmed Performers:

MILITARY:

A-10C Thunderbolt II Demo Team
United States Navy Blue Angels
United States Navy F-35C Demo Team
United States Army Golden Knights

CIVILIAN:

American Airpower Museum Warbirds
David Windmiller
Mike Goulian
Skytypers
Farmingdale State College Flying Rams
Warbird Thunder Airshows

Once again, the show is a bit light on the Thunder :( I miss seeing the Canadian Snowbirds and CF-18 teams, they have not come for a VERY long time. I would also like to see the B1 Lancer make a return, it's been 17 years since they performed here! I'd also like to see one of the B-29s make an appearance. I have NEVER seen a B-2 or B-52 in person, would love to see one of those as well.

Looks like a nice lineup at least!!!

I agree the shows are getting repetitive. I will always still go, but it would be super awesome to get some new aircraft every few years. This year there is no F22 either? Does anyone know why we seem to get a shortage of military performers every year?

Personally, I'm grateful we get a lineup like this year in and year out. Some places don't even get to see the Blues or Thunderbirds, therefore get replaced by a jet team such as the F-22, Growler/Super Hornet, F-16 as the finishing act; which makes the demo team pool smaller for Jones Beach.

Will be sad this is the last time we see the A-10 demo but grateful that they'll be at the show for the farewell tour

Glad I finally got my password problems to the site figured out and that the Jones Beach Air Show thread was started up already!
It's also great to see the 106th Air National Guard Rescue Wing Demo has been added to the performers line-up this week on the show's website too!!

BTW, if you want to get ready for the show in 2 weeks, you might want to check out the new Blue Angels IMAX movie coming to
a limited number of IMAX theaters next Friday for only one week before it's released on Amazon Prime on May 24th.
Here's the latest trailer for the new Blue Angels IMAX movie that was just released and it looks AMAZING!!!

Well, just a week to go before all the Air show festivities start at Republic Airport!!
FYI - the FAA has posted the TFR (Temporary Flight Restriction) for the Jones Beach Show and the air space
over the beach will be closed on Thurs., May 23rd from 11:45AM - 2:00PM, and then again from 3:00PM - 4:30PM.
On Fri., Sat. & Sun (May 24th - 26th) the air space will be closed daily from 10AM to 3PM.

The typical arrival schedule for the Blues is #7 usually arrives later on Wed. afternoon/ early evening,
after their show at the USNA in Annapolis, and then the rest of their jets and Fat Albert will arrive on
Thursday morning between 9AM - 11:30AM. From the TFR, it sounds like the Blues will probably do their circles
around Jones Beach between 11:45AM and 2:00PM, and use 3:00 - 4:30 as a back up incase they're running late?

Also, heard the A-10 Demo Jets will be parked on the American Airpower Ramp which is great news,
cause this way we can see their specially painted A-10s up close that you won't want to miss,
especially since this is the final year the A-10 Demo Team will ever be flying sadly !!
Here's a video of the sweet looking A-10s arriving at Fort Lauderdale's show last weekend >>>

Yes it is, and I heard F-35C Demo Team should be arriving on Thurs. around 5:30PM at ISP,
if all goes well with their long cross-country trip from NAS Lemoore in CA.

The American Airpower Museum posted this for their Memorial Day weekend's activities from Friday to Sunday.
It's just odd they won't be open on Monday for Memorial Day like they usually are?

BTW, just read this on the AAM website and it says they will be open from 10AM to 4PM on Memorial Day also.

Legends of Airpower & The Jones Beach Air Show 2024 - American Airpower Museum (https://www.americanairpowermuseum.com/events/legends-of-airpower-the-jones-beach-air-show-2024/)

"Watch AAM’s awe-inspiring aircraft take off to perform practice flybys over Republic all day Friday, May 24th. Get up close and personal with these historic bombers and fighters of yesteryear! Then join us at AAM to catch even more aerial action Saturday and Sunday, as our warbirds lift off to perform in the air show! Flight experiences are also available each day on one of AAM’s AT-6 Texans, plus our red WACO Biplane! Park for FREE in AAM’s lot or along New Highway. Food and Ice Cream trucks are available onsite. AAM is also open Monday, Memorial Day, closing at 4:00 p.m."

Sucks that the recent runway construction at FRG has neutered the museum's ability to host visitor aircraft such as the B-17 Yankee Lady or the CAF birds such as Fifi. Nice to see the A-10 demo team should be parked by the museum though.

FYI - Blue Angel #7 is due into FRG on Wed. afternoon around 4:30 and it will probably
test out the temporary arresting gear also that they installed on 32/14 over the weekend.
The rest of the Blue Angels jets and Fat albert are due into FRG around 9:45AM on Thurs.

Is it possible to track #7 on Flight Radar? I recall sometimes you can and sometimes you can’t. Also, anyone know it’s call sign to search if it is trackable? Tnx

Happy air show week! The #7 jet arrived at around 7:45, then spent a little bit of time testing the cables. No flyover. Pulled up to the terminal a little after 8. Tomorrow's looking to be a busy day for the Blues (weather permitting). They're supposed to be in the air for more than 3 hours, longer than any other day this weekend. While the morning's forecast is looking rough at the moment, it is supposed to clear by the afternoon so fingers crossed for circle and arrivals around noon. Hoping to catch a lot of the action tomorrow.

Chris S
2024-05-23, 12:49 AM
Yeah, not exactly sure why #7 was 3 hours late today, but it was most likely mechanical issues somewhere,
cause they may have needed to fly the #7 jet in the demo today to replace another jet that was down possibly?
It was too bad #7 couldn't do a break to land but the arresting cable test with the tailhook sparks was cool to see!
Fingers crossed the weather isn't too bad tomorrow for the Blues busy day with their arrival, circles and full practice !!
BTW, one plus tonight was I saw Thom Richard land his P-40 "American Dream" this evening at FRG.

Tower just mentioned they don't have an ETA, especially with the weather. I had my doubts of them brute-forcing through that line of T-storms. But it looks like the afternoon should be clear if this moves through as quickly as they predict.

Well, that was certainly a wild arrival by the Blues in the T-Storm and pouring rain yesterday!!
I'm just hoping someone got a shot of the lightning in the background while the Blues were attempting to land and
all 6 finally did, although the nose of #5 took quite a beating and lost a decent amount of paint through the storm!
I'm sure it will look good as new in the morning when they takeoff for Annapolis cause their Maintenance crew works 24/7 !!
It was great seeing those 2 sweet looking A-10s land a hour early today so that I didn't have to wait around for a change.

For Friday's practice show, I've heard the F-35C Demo should flying around 11AM and the A-10 Demo around noon time.

A little late of a reply but they left at about 330, however, #7 and Fat Albert are still there, although there were two #2's, so hard to tell if #7 is actually left behind or if the real #2 was left behind if that makes sense.

Yes, it was indeed an awesome day, seems we might have gotten more of a show than the beach did. The warbirds did such an awesome job keeping the airport area entertained. It didn't dawn on me until later why the planes were going and coming back so fast, but when 140 hit and Fat Albert remained parked, I put 2 and 2 together and saw the low clouds off to the south, and went and got some pizza with my son, then we went to the terminal to wait for the blues to go home, I guess I did the show in the right order this year, beach for practice, wantagh park yesterday, and the airport today.
