I've been hearing some speculation that the A-10 could be making an appearance at this year's air show being that ACC has reinstated the demo. What is everyone's thoughts?

The A-10 team is currently booked for Columbia, Missouri that weekend. http://www.acc.af.mil/Home/Aerial-Events/A-10-Heritage-Team/A-10-HF-Schedule/

Sucks that the A-10 demo is booked that weekend the AMM said on their Facebook that they are looking to have A-10 there at some point. No details as to what that meant.

I know this has been discussed in years past but is there any sort of viewing area at ISP to watch the f22 come in, take off or to photograph while parked? When I went to ISP last year to watch the thunderbirds come in I was not bothered by anyone. Also does anyone have the correct scanner frequency for ISP?

Maybe they are relaxing a bit? But I know they had a specific area to watch the Thunderbirds with people patrolling Lakeland kicking people out

Arresting gear gets installed maybe a few days before #7's arrival. Maybe the weekend before. Blues likely in Thursday morning with #7 Wednesday late afternoon/evening. Shame no Fat Albert or even an Ernie this year..

So they will use a generic military C-130 to move their equipment?
And as in the past the Blues will they head to Annapolis on Friday morning for the Naval Academy Gradution?

Really?! No Fat Albert???

No - their aircraft, along with all other C-130T models, were grounded following the crash of a T-model in Mississippi last year. The team was working on acquiring a new J-model. Right now, given the high operational needs of the Navy, there are no J-models available, and the Navy is looking to acquire a surplus Royal Air Force J-model from storage.

They haven't been traveling with a fleet C-130 from what I've seen on social media. Looks like regular transport aircraft for the ground crew. Not sure if that's why they've had maintenance issues so far this season.
As for Friday I would guess they fly out around 9 for the graduation like years past come back and then hit the beach for the practice.

No Fat Albert. Grounded along with all C-130 T models. Been that way since the KC-130 that went down. Rumors have been floating that it would be lifted but hasn't happened yet. Also rumors floating that the Navy was looking to get a J model from the British Air Force

Does anyone recall what time they have taken off, in years' past, for their Annapolis Commencement fly-over? They are slated to fly-over Annapolis @ 1004. (https://www.usna.edu/CommissioningWeek/Schedule/index.php) Trying to get to FRG for take-off on Friday morning.

Thank you in advance for any information you can share!

Happy Memorial Day and thank you to those that served!

For people in NYC, keep an eye out for the Blue Angels flying up the Hudson tomorrow morning around 8:45.
As per this Notify NYC update:

OK from past experience with The Blue Angels ................

After they arrive Thursday morning they will hold a morning brief with 1-6 while 7 does media flights. Then around 11:00AM 1-4 will go fly down to the beach and get their land marks and markers. A little later on 5 & 6 will fly down and meet up with 1-4 for the 6 plane formations. Then 1 - 4 will return to Republic while 5 & 6 get their marks for the solo passes. Then they will return to Republic for a full briefing.

At 2:00PM the full team, 1-6 will go up for a full practice over the beach.

Friday # 7 will be doing media flights all day. 1-6 will fly down for the USNA Graduation in the morning and then after returning will again go up for a full practice at 2:00PM on Friday.

That is the Thunderbirds. Lt. Col. Kevin Walsh currently flying the #1 jet for the Thunderbirds is from Levittown!

Chris S

FYI- They still have a broken jet down at Andrews so they flew in another F-18 up from Pensacola
today around 12:30. The #7 jet was put into the Hangar this afternoon so that they could do
an engine change on it and after that was completed it went up for a test flight around 7:30
this evening and returned just after 8PM. So right now it looks like they have 6 jets and a
spare #7 ready to go for tomorrow morning for the USNA Graduation Flyover in Annapolis
and the Media Flights. Let's just hope they have better luck with ALL the jets tomorrow!!:cool::cool::biggrin:

Chris S

Also. AAM's new P-51 Mustang finally arrived just after 4PM and the Corsair came in this evening also,
but right now that was being kept over on the southside of the Sheltair Hangar.

A few questions from me:

1. Do we know if the forecast threatens to change things around tomorrow (thunderstorms around 2pm)?

2. Do we know if the Spitfire will be flying? Last I heard it was neither confirmed nor denied.

3. I know it's anybody's guess whether the F-22s will do a pass at FRG, but is there a general inkling?

4. What time does AAM open tomorrow? I don't mind getting there unreasonably early to get a good spot on the flight line, but want to make sure I show up when I should!

5. Will they let me in with a folding chair and a small cooler full of water bottles?

Per a post on the AAM Facebook page, the Spitfire will not attend the air show this weekend due to "an operational issue".

Yeah, better get there early cause the terminal is going to be a very a popular place
this whole weekend with ALOT of people trying to get up close to see the Blue Angels !
The "walk down" is when the Blue Angel pilots actually line-up together and then they
start to walk down the flight line in formation to each of their F-18 jets.

I was listening to the Tower after the F-22 was finished with his show. The KFRG controller thought and gave clearance for the F-22 and P-51 flyby. Then, said he wasn't coming due to low fuel as he headed back to ISP. Bummer. But the BA's gave a nice (standard) fly over for the crowd.

Just wonder why the BA's didn't takeoff in formation. two days in a row they took off individually.

So when I was at the beach in Thursday for circles and arrivals I heard on the scanner the Blue Angels, not sure pilots or guys at the comm cart talking about if the weather gets bad the May get stuck here and that it wouldn't be the worst thing to get stuck in the city. After checking the weather I guess they were referring to the weather at home because the West coast is on a tropical storm warning. Wonder how tomorrow will play out as far as their departure.

Yeah, I was talking to Blue Angel #6 after the show today, when they were swapping out jets from Andrews,
and he said with the pending Tropical storm down in the Gulf set to hit the Pensacola area soon they're going to
stay over an extra day or two on Long Island before they head down to their next show at NAS Patuxent River.

Yes, that was VERY unfortunate that the Raptor was low on fuel AGAIN, and couldn't
do a flyover at FRG today, especially after that was their problem on Friday also.
In past years, the F-22 Demo Team has ALWAYS done a great job doing a flyover
at FRG on their way back to ISP, and in my opinion this years Raptor Demo Team
definitely dropped ball as far as getting the most exposure for the USAF here on LI.

The Blue Angels didn't take off in formation most likely because of new FAA safety regulations.

In years past at FRG, the Blue Angels would always take off together as a 4 ship Diamond formation,
followed by the 2-Ship Solos formation. On Saturday they all did rapid single file takeoffs spaced out
a few seconds apart.
