EWR on arrival

Afternoon everyone!

I'm positioning out to EWR end of March on UA80 from MAN before operating home from JFK the following day.
Having not read many great reports on spotting at EWR, indeed 15 years since I was last there.
I will have hand luggage only, is it possible to stay airside on arrival for a few hours or is viewing not possible from arriving internationally ?

The US doesn't have direct airside transit, so you are funneled straight from the aircraft into the Customs hall. Once in Customs, you have contact with your checked luggage, so you're not security-sterile anymore and have to go through security again to get airside (which you can't do without a boarding pass). There aren't any great landside locations for viewing.
