Some new airlines/routes that I heard were going to start in 2017 were:

Eurowings from CGN
Norwegian from TXL/MUC
TK from LUX(that was a while ago though)
Hainan from CTU(might be a bit wrong on that one)
Sichuan airlines (not sure from where in china)
Suriname from GEO (And quite a big possibility that it will operate with their A340-300!)
Vivaaerobus from MEX

Anyone know/heard of any other possible new flights/routes to JFK?

Vivaaerobus is a possibility. USA-Mexico is open skies now, and Viva has the planes. It's slot constraints in Mexico City that's holding back rapid expansion from there. Viva has applied for a JFK-MEX slot (as have Volaris and Interjet for a daytime flight), but the allocation won't be made until May. [QUICK EDIT: The Viva application for JFK is for Summer 2018]

I'd be very surprised to see TK launch another route to the US, especially a 5th Freedom. Turkish is not in a good financial position, and that was before the abortive coup last summer. The missing link in their route network is Newark and all of the Star connectivity from there (though they're somewhat covered via IAD and ORD)

Hainan is waiting on DOT approval, but that's definitely in their plans.

The article that you linked said the Sichuan service would be from Chengdu, but I believe China only allows one Chinese carrier per overseas route. Because Hainan was the first mover, Sichuan was reportedly looking at Chongqing.
