Happy New Year to everyone here!

While sitting reserve yesterday in LGA, I came across a news article about a bombing at the airport 41 years ago on December 29, 1975. This is the first time I've heard of it so I would assume some of you are not too familiar as well.

In the evening of that day, a bomb exploded near the TWA baggage claim area and near to gate 22, killing 11 and injuring 74. I did a little bit of research but could not find an old terminal map from the 70s. Looking at several photos however, it seems as though former gate 22 is now gate C1.

No person or group took responsibility for the bombing and the case still remains unsolved. The below articles are rather interesting.

I was on a spotting trip from Toronto and was eating dinner across from the Terminal. I didn't know what happened at the time, just endless emergency vehicles.

However, the bomb had been placed in a coin operated locker. After that, lockers were removed from airports all over Canada and USA.
