I have been trying to get the ILF B722 for about a year since I saw John Musolino's shot from CLT from 2013. I had just missed the EWR arrival at the time and since then it never came back (Of course). If I am correct getting a shot of the TSU 727 with IFL markings tied up any remaining US Airlines (Cargo or PAX) that fly 727s on the Mainland US. The remaining ones on around on the Mainland are just Obscure Corporate 727 that are drifting about. I made an extra effort to get as many shots as I could and managed to pull off some video. Technically I do have a "Transauto" 727-100 from several years back but ti was before they airline applied the (IFL) titles to their aircraft other than the CVLTs.

Something to look for in the future - IFL will be receiving the first CRJ200 freighter conversion...

Very interesting. I am sure these will kill a lot of the classics we see flying around for Carriers like Ameristar, Kalitta charters and IFL etc.

The CRJ will impact the Convairs more than the DC9/727 demographic.

Yea those are the ones I was referring to and concerned about- (Generally speak all those type of airlines)
Shorts 7, 330s 360s DC3 etc. I do enjoy seeing those older Falcons and Lears flying around as well. So many of the Dc-3s, Convairs beech's etc are gone now. A few from Milwaukee, Indianapolis and Louisville and Chicago.
I think you can appreciate these some of these :)

She's a beauty Senga, glad you were able to catch her! IFL is based at the airport I used to do my flight training at, and it was always a treat to see one of the 727s taxiing out and taking off on another charter when we were outside or in the pattern.

My buddy Dick Zerbe used to run that Carvair, unique to say the least.

captmjk16,
I also did my flight training in the Midwest Chicago area. I do have fond memories of a lot of airports in the region and the aircraft as well even before they Killed Meigs Field. What Airport are the IFL B772 based out of? I do believe KPTK? But I am not sure.

That's very cool 727C47. I am sure most of these planes from the Midwest I have a shot in years past probably can bring some memory. That is very cool. I see a

Senga,

I'm not sure if the 727s are based full time at PTK, but there did always seem at least one or two at IFL's hangar complex. Honestly I never did any reg logging back then, just took the time to stop the lawn mower, run to the car, grab the camera and shoot the arrival/departure so I can't be sure if any were based there full time or just stopped by for MX. Now a days there tends to be more Falcon 20 and Convair action out of PTK from IFL. I still miss seeing the more frequent DC-3 movements out there, though again, I was too young to appreciate it at the time.

I know the feelings I rally wish I could have started the hobby a few years before than when I p in the DC area (Northern Virginia) Area I can only imagine what VIP and Unique Aircraft I could have gotten back then in the late 80s and early/mid 90s. Andrews AFB and Dulles were not that far. I am one of the few lucky ones that have few if any memories of aircraft and what I saw before I started shooting so nothing to haunt me much.

I guess that's a good problem to have Senga, in my case I've got the memories and (occasionally) some crappy negatives that make me wonder what the hell I thought I was doing back then, regardless, things are far better on the aviation photography front today.

The VIPs around DC have to be drool-worthy, but something tells me they're tougher to catch now than back in the day.

I can totally relate capt. I have crappy negatives as well. Or the why didn't I just go around the corner to a better shot! bad then There wasn't anyone to knock some sense into us to look at better way to do things.

During my first visit to KMDW in 1996 little did I know when I took this AWE B732 that I simply could have shot 30 feet away to the left with a perfect side on. It took me a few year to learn this basic concept "WHAT COMES IN MUST GO OUT" I would see plane I wanted on the ground but it never occurred to me that it woudl depart in the morning or later in a few hours.
