KPHL Rare Visitors (ACTIVE)

Hello,
I am an old-fashioned plane spotter that would have a notebook as his database for arrival and departure times. I would also have a camera on hand until I have decided to modern up and start using Flightaware, Flickr, and a few spotting forums so I can get call outs from people and have a more accurate description of what is coming in! So since KPHL (Philadelphia Int'l) is my home airport, I have decided to make a rare visitor page so I can figure out what I need to get and what I missed because this wont only make me a better KPHL spotter, but everyone else.

Nice sets thank you for sharing. I like the biz-jets. When I started out I was old fashioned too, I would write all arrivals and departures down in a notebook and go spotting. The new apps they have now are excellent, they let you put alerts in so you can program in the tail numbers and it will send an alert to your phone. It also takes a little bit of the excitement away because you know what's coming, but they are super helpful. I like spotting with the apps a lot more than without them. Thanks again for sharing the pics I look forward to seeing more.

Oh nice, my old-fashioned style helped me develop some talent of being able to guess the rare visitors! Considering that I am a kid, I came pretty far over my 13 years of plane spotting!

Thanks! It took me years but I've finally caught all the US specials with that American West plane; thanks to the East/West fleet integration.
Now I just want better shots of the other AW planes, Arizona, Nevada flags and the other HP retro.

The only US Airways special I haven't gotten on video is the Cardinals jet. Have only gotten Arizona and Nevada once and wouldn't mind getting more video of both (as well as PSA - haven't gotten that one in a while).

I hope to be out on July 12 and 13 and hopefully they all get routed through PHL at some point!

I am looking forward to Saturday mainly since Qatar usually sends us a special one day and a "cookie Qatar plane" (pun intended) the other and alternate daily unlike most other airlines! Oh cool, Trump's S-76 was there! I never knew Donald Trump owned an S-76. I remember seeing his 727-100 (or -200) and his 757-200, but that would have been new to me! I got the HP Retro 1 yesterday for the 1st time, I got The Spirit of Kitty Hawk B737-700, but I had a barbecue to attend so I passed on Frontier, Lufthansa, and British (both of them.)

Was all over the tri-state area today so I managed to stop by KWRI to catch a C-32 (757-200) doing some pattern work. We also stopped at KPHL to catch the Frontier which was supposed to be 209FR (the plane I flew to ATL on), but that was a phantom and I got the coyote tail and I messed up the shot as I was eyeing the Air France 777 I spotted. Oh well, I finished up the US Airways NFL tails and got all three alliances (Star, OneWorld, and SkyTeam.) in one week!

Thanks for your support Kiffy, I will never stop spotting no matter what anybody (cop or spotter) has to say (good or bad!) I will try my best to get the Atlantic stuff arriving or departing but if I have to, I will do a ground shot and try to remember the advice. As for the Illinois One and OneWorld AA, I didn't see them but I'm pretty confident I will get the Oneworld again but I am not worried about Illinois One since I already got it! I am currently planning on going early tomorrow morning to catch the DHL/ABX 762 for one of the last times I could as PHL is getting DHL service courtesy of Southern Air. I am hoping we get a 747-400 but I'm pretty skeptical. A 77W wouldn't be bad either but I wouldn't really be satisfied with a demotion to 734 service!

According to Wikipedia, the DHL 767-200ER is going to stop coming on July 31st and will be replaced by a smaller 737-400 on August 1st! I probably won't be there for the AW retros but will try and get them departing. UAL 1425 is not going to be a Star Alliance, but United is sending a 752 at 3:15 PM to compliment yesterday's 753 arrival from KIAD! I ran out this evening to hopefully get British Airways 67 and 69 arriving simultaneously. Since I have both registrations pictured, I decided to take video! I arrived just in time to see British Airways 67 arriving as a 772 with the coat of arms approaching. I got that, followed up by a US Airways A321 and a Delta MD-88 that decided to join the fray, but when British Airways 69 arrived (788, G-VDJD) my camera's battery died without warning so I just felt disgusted that I tried so hard for nothing so I just opened the battery door and slammed the batteries into a tree! Nice shots Kiffy, I was hard pressed when I found out that the An-124 was coming while I was spotting at Newark! I might try to catch all of the remaining 734's on short notice! Oh yeah, the An-124 came in on 27L because it is a longer runway than 27R! Some more bad news that may spark a last minute BWI run for me:

Oh anyway, there is an Antonov An-124 at KPHL as we speak!
Saw that on the tracker, it arrived last night from French Guiana of all places as ADB16F (http://flightaware.com/live/flight/ADB164F). It was operated by UR-82008; painted in ADB's new livery, a great looking bird.


August 17 also marks the last 734 flight for US Airways (will be arriving at 5 PM)
Watch your date, the last flight is the 19th. The callsign will be "US737" CLT-DFW-PHL-CLT.

I had been waiting and waiting for QTR to takeoff on 27L. I could see it sitting in the middle of the two runways for about twenty minutes and then it finally began moving... to runway 9R...

Nice shots as always Kiffy! I love that Saudi G-V, it is the definition of a rare visitor. It is pretty good speculation for UN Week at KJFK. I might be down there either tomorrow or Sunday just in the hopes of getting some kind of IL, a 747SP, a 727, and the Amiri Flight 748 or 788.The Saudi G-V is used for Medevac missions for their citizens. Notice the EKG cheatline. It's not used for VIPs. Most common destination in the Northeast is BWI, for obvious reasons.

I had originally gone to PHL to get the first A330-200 in the new American paint but it wasn't meant to be... At the end of the day I walked away with a new airline so that was a nice consolation prize.
