Heading back to NY, I made a side trip to the Wright Brothers Memorial in Kill Devil Hills, someplace I've wanted to visit for a long time.

First Flight sculpture, dedicated in December 2003 to mark the centennial of the Wright Brothers flight. It depicts the famous photograph taken by John Daniels, a member of the Kill Devil Hills Life Saving Station. Daniels had never seen a camera before the Wrights asked him to photograph their first flight. Thus, Daniels became the first aviation photographer. Shortly after this, he was contacted by authorities, who told him taking pictures of airplanes was illegal...
