Raise your hand if you thought in 2003 that America West would become the world's biggest airline within a decade.

Technically, America West didn't. They are gone and American is the victor.

America West took over US Airways and kept the name, as it was better known. They did the same thing now.

They are keeping the "American" callsign from what I understood, so America West never became the biggest airline, American did. If that logic flowed, then PSA would also be the world's largest airline since it, too, was absorbed.

I think what moose meant was they kept the "US Airways" name...

I looked planespotters.net Latest Deliveries (http://www.planespotters.net/LatestDeliveries) a lot of US Airways delivered to AA on monday, 12/9. Does it mean that these will be repainted to AA as soon as being delivered to AA?

Thanks.

It looks like almost all of those are simply planespotters.net changing their records to show those frames now belong to AA. I don't know the paint schedule, but I suspect most will retain US colors until their next scheduled trip to the paint shop. You may have some repainted early, especially the Star Alliance birds, and new deliveries will likely have AA colors, but they aren't going to repaint the entire fleet en masse right away.
