Beginning to look like a workplace shooting. Reports shooter was disgruntled TSA employee.

That was reported at first, but now authorities are saying he was a ticketed passenger, and does not appear to have ever been employed by TSA.

TSA didn't let the runman through, he shot his way through. It appears he approached a Ticket Document Checking podium then took out a weapon and shot a Behavioral Detection Officer (who later died) then shot his way through the checkpoint asking people if they were TSA. The gunman does not nor have worked for TSA.

This was all very upsetting to me. Not even aviation-related, it just sucks to see. I was particularly displeased with local news showing close aerial footage of them carting out a lifeless body to an ambulance, which ended up being the deceased TSA officer. At least zoom out or something.

Otherwise, here's an interesting interview that appeared on Al Jazeera about airport security at LAX pertaining to the incident... https://ajam.app.box.com/s/fep44i8c3gsmkvinh1h3

A law enforcement source tells CNN's Dan Simon that armed police officers were removed from TSA checkpoints at LAX airport earlier in the year. The officers had been stationed there following 9/11, but a decision had been made to allow the officers to roam the terminal with the provision that they were never more than 2 minutes away from a check point.

Terrible news but it is aviation related!! Going away from the tragic shooting you can cover the aviation aspect of how this incident totally messed up air travel into and out of LAX and beyond!!
And will the heightened security at airports now effect spotting?
Surprised a TFR wasnt quickly put out to keep the newscopters away from LAX!! I know they have the super zoom cameras but watching coverage it looked and sounded like theyt were pretty close!!

We must be quick not to post out info so quickly!! The media loves to do this because they are in competition with each other and each wants to be the first to say "EXCLUSIVE" without even checking the facts.
This happened yesterday also......http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/11/01/lax-shooting-hoax-media_n_4194776.html

And Jon Stewart has been blasting CNN about this for awhile now...http://news.yahoo.com/jon-stewarts-long-war-cnn-getting-bitter-petty-181321496.html
