Tonight while driving home on the Southern State parkway I noticed a formation of 6 solid Orange lights moving in a southwest direction. I was not the only one to see this as several cars had pulled over to take notice. It was just something very odd to see. I've heard a couple people mention Floating Lanterns. Not sure what it was.

This apparently was shot in California two months ago, but they also list a number of similar sightings in the accompanying text, including one from September 2012 in Elmont.

No nothing like that. This was two sets of 3 lights in a triangle formation moving very slowly to the southwest. Like I said several people pulled over on the highway to watch.

It's probably uncountable how many science types are out there, building remote control UFO's with crazy lights on them, and causing these reports. And then laughing about it.
When these things land, ramps come down, and slimy, scaly, tentacled beings emerge and start evaporating people with their death rays, then call me.

What's your cell...might as well take up the offer.

This may be something different, but around 8:30 last night, I saw some unusual "lights" slowly drifting across the sky (middle of Nassau County). One after the other - about 4 total. At first, I thought there were some helos at higher altitude, but then it dawned on me that I would have heard them. But no sound at all and no nav lights were visible.
It kind of looked like some small balloons that were on fire (?) or otherwise sparkling. Definitely not fireworks as these "objects" were floating and drifting across the sky for a couple of minutes. Shortly after, they disappeared, either by going above the clouds or by burning out. If this was some kind of prank, it looked kind of cool, but I'm just puzzled as to what exactly was going on.
Anybody know anything about it?

Japanese lanterns...
Also known as 'fire balloons'. There is a recent TV ad (for a car I think) that shows them being used.
