Unlike Flickr, SmugMug has unveiled a new set of designs with a new set of customizations that are simply incredible. I know some of us use both sites for hosting (I no longer upload to Flickr but I stick around for the communities since I'm no longer paying for their garbage). If you don't use SmugMug, I very highly recommend it, and if you do use it and have finished migrating and customizing, SHOW OFF YOUR STUFF!

Indeed..

This is the DEFAULT theme I selected. Didn't touch much other than the social media icons and selecting a gallery for the front page.

I jumped in early - migrated my stuff right after they finished the announcement, so it took about 3 minutes - I know they got backed up later that day. I spent about 4 hours, on and off, on my updated site. I started with the Turbo template, and went from there.

I wish they had more Add to cart buttons. Looks nice but you have to jump through hoops to buy something. I just ordered a 11 x 14 print in Metallic from my own gallery to see the quality. Think this should show up nice on metal http://loxlygallery.smugmug.com/VinnyOHare/Arizona

Ginny, if you are getting the Bay Photo prints on aluminum, I can tell you that you will love them. I've gotten a few photos printed that way, and they are outstanding.

Great stuff guys!

I agree with Moose about the metal prints from Bay. They are just outstanding.

I think I'm going to make an executive decision and switch from flickr... I'm getting very tired of their "updates", Moose, I like the way your site is laid out!

Mine can be seen at http://www.sopicturethis.net. Looking forward to seeing more as folks continue to migrate and design!

Kenny, your site is nice and your pixel bending is off the hook! I like the simple elegant look and you have it sir

Manny, Your site looks a little cluttered with the birds in the backround, your Photography makes it a great site and the photos on you cover page are simply awesome. But that is my taste

Moose, your site is clean and setup similar to mine. I think the slideshow takes away from the site but I like it and use it too.

Vinny, I do not like how the logo has a different backround, other than that it is clean and easy to navigate.

I am nitpicking on every site but I need someone to nitpick on mine. I do not like the gallery page, I think it looks cluttered. All the pictures take up too much space and I may make them smaller.... I do not know.... help here please?

And I have to say Manny..... you are the man! Look thru his work if you have not already

Thanks for the comment Fred!

Fred, my nit pick would be on your main page. Under the slideshow, the plethora of av pics. We all love a good shot of a military bird and few shoot them better than you but you also have such amazing shots of plenty of other subjects. Mix it up!

It is in the template where it shows the most recent photos taken...they will constantly change as I upload

Those backlit airshow shots are not great for presentation.....

Fred, I totally agree with you on the background on front page... I tossed it up there quickly so I could mod the default! and THANK YOU for the kind words. I am honored coming from you :)

Kenny, truly great stuff on your site as well :)

Fred, (and others) have at it.... www.jklosphotography.com
I know it needs a lot of work, I just need to find the time to work with it.

Manny you're stuff is top-notch.
Kenny, that pixel bending and fractal work is so unique. It gives a really cool effect rarely seen.
Vinny, you have some nice stuff but that Arizona galley seems a bit too tweaked for my taste.

I abandoned smugmug a long time ago in favor of squarespace. But good work all around guys.

John, you have got to get rid of the square previews, it cuts off the nose and tail of aircraft. Nice easy to use layout and like the old smugmug feel.

Thanks for the kind words guys :)

Kenny, I asked you before how you did it... that pixel bending stuff you do is awesome! I have a few filters that help me do it but having the skill to use it is a different thing. I think you owe us a tutorial

Fred, I re-did the background with a different picture. Let me know what you think... :)

Made the switch yesterday: www.instantscaptured.com

Lotsa work to do... If someone knows how to have a random photo for each gallery to be displayed on the homepage (instead of the same photo over and over again), please do let me know.

Rom that looks real good sir!

Manny, it's the diffuse filter. Numerous passes in numerous layers at different opacities. No set formula for each, just a lot of trial and error.

Mark, Your site is clean and easy to navigate. It is uncluttered and classy. Nice site but could still use some tweaking on the tan color in my opinion

Steve...god help your site, the sparks as a backround is cluttered and makes reading anything on the site difficult. It may be a good picture but it does not belong. I can not look past that. Your logo on the first page is clipped and your backround on the first page is distracting and gives a cluttered look. Not a fan of most pictures as a backround.

Thanks Fred! I am in agreement with that tan color. Still work in progress.
