Hey all,
A family vacation was touted for somewhere on the east coast of the US, and Boston was chosen.
I've been in the past it is a lovely, vibrant city. Can't wait to hit up Mike's pastry again!
I've convinced my wife to allow for at least one day out at Logan.
I've referred to the spotting map here (http://www.nycaviation.com/spotting-guides/bos/) and to the one linked off the Logan meetup page (https://maps.google.com/maps/ms?msid=217405727738001430951.0004966de134bf31ff60 d&msa=0).
I'm staying down in South Weymouth but am pretty comfortable taking the train in, hopping on the metro to constitution beach, and I'm ready for a bit of a walk to Winthrop and points beyond.
My questions however are:
Parking garages - Is there a number to call? E-mail address to contact? Being a non US citizen is it worth it? Directions for walking? Metro stop?
Use of scanner - Is it commonly seen/accepted?
Logistics - What are the common arrival/departure runways for the JAL 787 and other heavies? Is there a strategy to move with the sun once in Winthrop?
Best day to visit - Weather of course will play a factor, but is there a specific day to not miss? Ex. Extra DC-10 movements etc...
If you are Boston local, I have been known to buy at least 2 rounds of drinks if you recommend a pub for after ;)
