Using NYC Aviation maps I gave it a shot last night. It seemed like the Heavies were landing and departing away from me. Harder than I thought, perhaps early morning (pre dawn) would have less traffic. I have a lot to learn but I will be back.

Your choices are to simply copy and paste from Flickr... it has a FORUM option... or to simply use the JPG link and surround it in img tags like I did... You are welcome to EDIT your post whenever you want.

Those are some interesting shots! Love that first one, looks like the Sun is growing hair on one side! Manny you are one helpful dude. Heading out myself now to hopefully catch one of Connie's Classic 747's, arriving 11:43

Welcome aboard, Michael, those are some nice shots you've got there! For me, evening is the best time to spot at JFK since there are so many international heavies arriving at that time. Morning has a bit of a slower pace but also a very different type of traffic. There is a lot of South American traffic early in the morning, while the Asian carriers start to arrive later in the morning. Evening brings the most diversity by far though. Looking froward to seeing more of your work.

Welcome! Great shots! As stated already, use the forum options, as regular HTML code will not work on the forums.

Thanks for the help Manny! Thanks for the welcome everybody. I will be back again and hopefully catch those incoming flights in that Costco/Burger King Area. I looked for the Mounds but must have missed it. Was it behind a park?

The Mounds is located behind a school. Until you're within half a block or so you can't really tell anything is back there. Beware of the bugs. There are lots of mosquitoes and, if you go up on the mound itself, ticks. Be sure to bring bug spray and to wear long pants if you want to go up on the hill. Many of us have been spotting from the field this summer, just be sure to stay clear of the soccer players. Anywhere along the far edge parallel the parking area should be good and in the afternoon there is a little bit of shade.

I think you had the right idea for posting your photos from Flickr, you just need to click the BBCode button at the bottom to format it properly for the forums here. Do that and you can copy and paste the code from the box, just like you did.

Thanks again!
I saw the dream lifter over my house yesterday in Suffolk County, I would love to see that thing up close. Anyone see it? Is there any way to plan in advance to capture it?

You can try to keep tabs on the Dreamlifter fleet by tracking the tail numbers via flightaware:

Dreamlifter N780BA landed 3 weeks ago at JFK and is still sitting out on the apron at the end of W. Hangar Rd. in the cargo area. You can get a great up close look at her from the parking lot on the right side of the road at the very end. I took some shots from there today. I could almost clear the top of the fence from the sunroof of my SUV. I'll post some pics later.

I wonder why Saturday's flight didn't show up. I saw it and also saw it identified on Flight radar.

Dreamlifter N780BA at JFK yesterday afternoon. Back lit in the PM, so go in the AM if you can. Bring a wide angle lens.
Damn- I could have cleared that fence completely if I stood on the roof of my truck. Didn't want to press my luck though.
