If the 13s are in use when she arrives today around 4 like they were being used this morning, will she come in on 13L or will she be sent north to swing back down onto 22L???? Pretty good chance today will be the only chance i'll get to get a photo of her for a while, so any thoughts or inside info would be appreciated.

Thanks.

If they are strictly on the 13s, they will come in that way. Yesterday, they were using the 13/22 split, and most European arrivals use 22L in that configuration. If they use the split again today, I would expect they come in on 22L.

With the amount of traffic coming in and out today I can't imagine they'll stay up and down the 13's all day. Definitely keep an eye on the ATIS.

Thanks. This freq will give the planned arrival runway? Sorry, but I haven't listened on the approach freqs before; just the tower. Thanks for the input guys! Fingers crossed. T minus 3:45 give or take.

It's final approach. You'll hear which flights are vectored for which runway, which if you react quickly enough will give you just about enough time to scoot to the other runway if you plan your route right.

Thanks again! Headed out in five minutes to hit the mounds and hope.

Got it! Not sure any were all that great, but I seem her and shot some photos. She was beautiful. Nice to meet Don and I think it was Eric who was there as well although I didn't get a chance to do introductions.

Good seeing Eric and TJ out at the mounds this afternoon. We caught LOT6 beating all odds- the 13L/22L split and impending storm clouds. Here are some shots-

Thanks. I also caught the red beacon in multiple exposures yesterday and today. Got me wondering if the 787 strobes are firing at a faster rate, or if it was just luck.

Thanks. Were you able to spot her out over Long Island today?

Honestly, I got caught up ripping down the shed. When I did look to see where she was, she was still way out.

i got her today on the island, upset that A, etihad stopped flying 340s and B, i didn't get to the mounds in time.
But, in other news, I could not sleep last night and the whistle of a B6 320 woke me up at 4 am, I decided since I'm an early-bird type of person, I would sit outside in the driveway and spot EARRRLLLYYY morning arrivals...heres what i got.

Thanks. I also caught the red beacon in multiple exposures yesterday and today. Got me wondering if the 787 strobes are firing at a faster rate, or if it was just luck.
The anti collision beacons on the 787 use LEDs for the light, rather than traditional strobes, so they do have different characteristics than strobes.

They don't rotate like the beacon strobes, as Moose pointed out, but rather pulsate. The average "strobe" if you will is substantially longer than a traditional beacon...so catching the blinking beacon isn't too much of a challenge with the Dreamliner. It's easily timeable once you know about it!

My 6-2-13 787 Arrival catches, along with a few bonuses. I think Eric and Don are my unofficial spotting good luck charms as I'd never gotten the KAC 777 or the Royal Jordanian before.

Hey TJ- It sure was one of the most rewarding half hours I have ever spent at the mounds. Good meeting you. See you again sometime.
