Had the good fortune to head to Castle Air Museum while out in California visiting a friend. Decided to go to the museum on super bowl Sunday, which meant we had the place to ourselves (helps that the 49er's were playing). Enjoy!

Best part of this thread: the censored name of the town! Good thing no one ever tries to talk about former HW Bush political adviser Lee A****er (oops!) or the architectural flourishes of the A****er Metro station in Montreal (eek!), or A****er Village, a pretty cool neighborhood in LA just east of Hollywood (yikes!).

Yeah, the collection is pretty extensive, lot's of rare birds from all eras. The B-36 is the highlight seeing as how only 3 are left on display anywhere in the world, and Castle has the only RB-36 left. Well worth the $10 admission.

For a minute I had no idea what that was all about....spelled it out in my head and realized.

Castle has an awesome collection, and a few times a year they have an open cockpit day. They don't let you go through the tunnel in the B-36 though. :(

A t w a t e r, what's the big deal? TERRIFIC set of pictures, great collection!

What the heck did the 22 people on the B-36 do? that is a huge crew...

Also, for how massive the Peacemaker is, that tunnel looked pretty small from the bomb bay.

Pretty diverse collection.

I am biased but the Beaver and the Canuck are beautiful ;)

Nice catalog of relics there. Have to put it on the list of museums to visit.

If you're out in the SF area and decide to go to Yosemite it is on the way. Only about a 2 and a half hour ride. Yosemite is spectacular, btw.

Yeah, the tunnel is not for the claustrophobic. I wonder if they used to measure the shoulders of potential crews to make sure they would fit....

Cool set! I'm a big Dagger fan.

B-24M? Interesting variant

Yup, they have the entire Century Series on dispay there. The Dagger and Dart are some of the most beautiful aircraft to ever grace the skies.

The B-29 has some "issues"... It might be an interesting place to stay and photograph at night.
