On Jan. 21, 1976, 37 years ago today, both Air France and British Airways flew their first-ever commercial Concorde flights for passengers. The British went to Bahrain while the Air France I believe went to Rio via Dakar. It was an exciting time back then. Supersonic air transport looked like the wave of the future as many airlines signed-up to lease or purchase Concordes. No Concordes were allowed to land at JFK thanks to the Port Authority and certain government officials at the time. The following November, restrictions were finally overturned.
