Crash Of World War II-Era South African Air Force Plane Kills 11

The South African Air Force regularly uses their C-47 Turbo Prop conversion aircraft - they have been flying there for more years than I can remember - seems like some really bad weather in the mountainous region of South Africa caused one to crash - RIP to all the souls on board

The DC3 is the best airplane ever designed,hands down, a 75+ year old design still earning its keep flying pax (Buffalo),cargo (too many operators to list),aerial survey,military,etc. while its contemporaries are decades retired to museums the old Douglas soldiers on. I love this airplane, i earned my keep in them the first 10 years of my career, and have been blessed flying airshows in the old girl since '96, God's grace she will make it to her centenary and beyond. RIP to our S African brothers who flew west.
