View Full Version : If You Could Bring Back an Airline and an Aircraft...?

If you could bring back an old plane that no major airline flies anymore, and also bring back an extinct airline (unrelated for the aircraft part of the question) which would you choose?

I would want 727s back. For the sound and the classic look...even though the L-1011 is my favorite plane.

For airlines, I'd bring back Eastern...good looking planes with the night cheatline on bare metal....gorgeous. Oh, how LGA would look if they came back! I'd bet you folks would go spotting there even! haha

You?

I'd have to say Northwest's bowling shoe 727s, always had a soft spot for those baby three holers, and they looked great in that livery.

Agreed. I loved that scheme on the 757s a lot as well. So ugly on the Airbus, however.

I would like to jump on that 727 bandwagon, but I'm going to go with the other 3-holer the DC-10.
As for airlines, PanAm. That classic blue globe on the tail...the history...

In my fantasy world, Trans World Airlines would be flying again. Including their 747SP's.

as for me, TWA, Pan Am, Eastern. I would love to see Pan Am with their 727s and 747s, Eastern gotta say L-1011s 727s and DC-9s, TWA, 747s L-1011s 727s and 707s.

Aircraft, 707s because of the smoke trails as well as their unique whistly JT3 engines, 727s, Loud and the feel of the blast!, L-1011s and DC-10s would be on my list as well.

I was going to post that Pan Am Version 5 was still flying, but they seem to have gone under. I wonder how long until v6.0 is tried.

I'd vote for bring Pan Am back too, with the old school three window 747. Best view was pulling up to the airport in Moscow after two weeks traveling on Aeroflot around the Soviet Union, and seeing a gleaming white Pan Am 747 amongst all the dingy Soviet block planes.

Concorde, not for the aircraft but for the concept of reducing travel time by half.

Airline? ....New York Air comes to mind.

Im going to have to say Northwest for an airline just because i think we'd see less Delta birds in the air. As for which aircraft....even though i love the 727, im gonna cast another vote for the L-1011.

Excellent question. Of course, I would bring back Concorde; second choice Tristars (L10), 3rd choice DC10s/MD11s. US airline, I suppose Pan Am, then TWA, then Braniff.

For aircraft, I think it's a tie between the L-1011 and 727 for me. I've never seen an L-1011 in person before, but they seem like they'd be quite the sight to see!

And although not an airline, I'd like to bring back Trump's VP-BDJ. I got a chance to see it up close and walk around it once, but I wasn't allowed to take any photos.

I would bring back the Flying Tigers Cargo Airline, flyng their DC-8s in their classic silver finish with red/blue stripes! My dad worked for FT @ JFK in the 70's and 80's calculating the plane's weight and balance. As kids, my brother and I were able to fly in the cockpit to Hawaii. It really was an amazing experience and it still baffles me that we were able to do this...those were the days : )

Even though the airlines are still here, I would be a happy man to see American and Delta widget liveried MD-11s flying again, 2 of the most beautiful planes in the sky at the time. But keeping within the thread, I would say TWA and their early 70's 747-100's.

DC-8, DC-10, 707, 727 as well as 747 classics (-100, -200 & SP) that used to populate JFK from Europe in the 80s and early 90s.

Pan Am, TWA, Eastern
