When you first turn on the computer in the morning, what are the first sites you visit and things you do?

At home, the first thing I do is open Chrome, Outlook and Tweetdeck. While Outlook and Tweetdeck populate I open up LinkedIn and LiveLeak first. Don't ask why I go to LinkedIn, of all places, first. I clear any pending requests or messages and then check LiveLeak for any new videos. Once I'm done with that I dive into work, checking NYCA forums and approving/rejecting new registrations. Then aviation news and whatever is on my list for the day.

You?

First is check email and two newspapers - then - NYCA checking the forums, jetPhotos to see what is new, and finally Facebook to see what has been going on. Then the rest of the day can start...

Usually by that point an hour has passed, my ass is sore, my coffee cup is empty and my cat is insisting that I meet his playtime demands

Computer is ALWAYS on, I have not turned off my main computer since it was built and turned on for the first time (not kidding)
Outlook for work E-mail, Calendar.
Work Dashboard to check system status for stuff I manage
Check nightly backup log to make sure it completed

Firefox is always open. I have bout 15 pinned tabs that go from left to right:

NYCA Forums, ACARS, Flightaware, A,net, JP,net, FB, TweetDeck, My personal video jukebox (45TB and counting :P) MysterBin, Usenet4all, iMDB, NMT, YAMJ, dpReview, CNN.

Other tabs will be opened as needed such as Gmail when new mail is in the queue.

Check NewsBin to see what finished
Check CNN.com
Check NYCA Forums (this repeats very often)
Check A.net, JP.net
Check ACARS, Flightaware
Check Twitter and FB

From here at first pass, it can go in any direction... mostly though, I switch over to Lightroom and continue to cull photos and add metadata to the thousands of images left to tag and classify. Good ones get pulled, edited and placed in a queue for upload to my website, FB and to the online databases if good enough.

During school season when I have a lot of other photo work, most of my time is consumed with post production on events or sports shoots.

Appps that are ALWAYS running in the background are:

Outlook 2010, Firefox, Chrome, IE9, Photoshop CS5.1, Lightroom 4, NewsBin, iTunes, VLC, WMP and from time to time Safari. Other apps come andgo as needed and mostly video or audio or image editing related. When working from home, I am usually on Lync or OCS client for VoIP / IM / Video Chat as well as on TeamViewer and Terminal Services.

Right now, I am typing this reply
