Iberia Airlines has started a contest that offers spotters a chance at a free trip for two to any Iberia destination. I don't think I recall any airline having a contest like this.

You enter by going spotting and trying to find a particular aircraft of theirs that has "the world's longest tweet", which is Airbus A340-600 EC-JBA. Take a photo of it and upload it to the contest's Facebook app here... https://www.facebook.com/IberiaEN?sk=app_242825925837985 (you will need to Like both the Iberia and the contest pages to participate). The 10 images with the most votes by September 6th will be judged by Iberia.

If you happen to tweet your photos, feel free to use the hashtag #spotweetiberia.

On the App page, when you click "Spot the Plane" it will tell you where the plane is headed, so you can monitor that or just spot at JFK as usual. I don't know details yet but will pass it along once I learn them.

Would be awesome to see someone from here win it. Be sure to post the photos that you get and tell us when you upload so we can vote!

Gordon,

Phil forgot to add the fine print: "Gordon Gebert is NOT allowed to enter due to unfair advantages"

This sound terrific even I have no idea what they mean LOL. Not that I ever passed up an Iberia A340 at JFK or otherwise, but, now I will have to pay more attention.

Thanks Phil.

I learned that the plane in question is Iberia A340-600 EC-JBA. Basically, take a photo of it, submit it on the app, and the 10 images with the most votes by September 6th will be judged by Iberia.

Since the Ibetia A340-600 is unofficially my favorite plane to spot, I will enjoy this!

EC-JBA happens to be the Iberia A340-600 I've photographed the most and have also flown on... But of course I didn't happen to see it when spotting last week. I'll have to keep an eye out for her on Friday when I'm back at the airport. :)

Being in Madrid isn't an unfair advantage.

Well here she is, -JBA, landing on 31R on 7/30/11. But since I don't 'do' Facebook I can't enter this thing

I don't see the tweet on those shots...this is something that just started the past few days, so I think you have to get it sometime from now, forward.

I can confirm that EC-JBA does indeed have the "world's longest tweet" plastered across the fuselage. I "spotted" the plane on my way to the runway the other day. Unfortunately she was sandwiched in between 6 other A340-600s (yes, my dream come true) and I was not able to get a decent photo with out terrible heat haze but it exists!
