A plane crash at Bayport Aerodrome on Saturday afternoon left two people with minor injuries, Suffolk police said.
An emergency team from the Bayport Fire Department was on the scene to treat the injuries, which were not considered life-threatening, officials said.
Jim Peters, spokesman for the Federal Aviation Administration's regional office, said the biplane flipped as it was departing at 2:38 p.m.
"As he [the pilot] was departing, he ran into a strong tail wind," Peters said. "He tried to put it down, and then it flipped."
Only two people were aboard the aircraft, which sustained substantial damage, Peters said. He added that the National Transportation Safety Board will investigate possible causes of the crash.
