Has anyone been to ABE when the NASCAR jets are on the ramp? When is the best time for photos, considering how they're usually parked? I want to go down to get a shot of the Roush-Fenway 727, but I didn't want to make the hour-long drive to arrive and find the jet backlit.

I've never tried shooting at ABE, I have caught some of the jets at AVP, although it's tougher now - they put up yellow "crime scene" tape wrapped around the trees about 3 feet from the fence, so you can't get close to point your camera through the openings. I'll be heading out in the morning, but I don't know if I'll have time to shoot at the airport.

Hey John,

Good luck at AVP--it doesn't seem as if many good jets come in anymore. Seems they all head to ABE now. Although Jack Roush's N6JR is there now--I want to get a shot of that one, as it has a different paint scheme from the crashed Premiere.

I made the hour drive and found the plane backlit in the pouring rain :frown: Also had to do a panoramic shot because my lowest focal length lens is the 50mm prime and the 727 was right up against the fence.

I may try again tomorrow. But at least I got something!

Thanks! It was great to see one of the few 727's still flying in the US.
