Watching the coverage of the Presidents trip to Afghanistan on Tuesday on CNN and they discussed the logistics of flying into a "combat" zone.
Advisors wanted him to use a regular looking aircraft as AF1 was pretty identifiable. He said no.
When they come in for landing ALL electronic devises must be turned off and window shades down, lights off.
Taking off the 747 doesnt glide down the whole runway but instead the pilot pulls the massive plane up quickly at a 45 degree angle. Anderson Cooper said its like
being in a fighter jet, you can feel the G forces pushing at you. Thought that was pretty cool.
And on this trip since Marine 1 was also used it was escorted by Apache gunships (at the very least).!!!
