I managed to hit KPHX 3 times during my cross country trip. The following images are an amalgamation of shots from these three days. All in all, it was a good time for sure. Hard to believe it was my first time spotting in my home town! While these pale in comparison to Steve's recent offerings, I managed to nag some nice traffic, and one bird that had very special meaning to me.
Managed to catch a different Continental bird all three days, the first time I'd shot a Continental mainline jet

Have to support the state bird! Sadly haven't yet shot the WN equivalent.

And now, I get to go all sappy for a second  . Growing up in Phoenix, America West was our hometown airline. I remember flying them with great frequency, and watching their jets come and go all the time. I always associated them with the 737, and it was somewhat close to the wire that I realized I never shot a America West, or former America West as it was, 737. By a swing of luck, I happened to be in KPHX the week they were being retired. I managed to shoot them the day before their retirement, departing on a beautiful November morning. A close relative was on a flight that final evening, and when the crew heard about our frantic race to catch a America West 737-300, sent me a little memento to remember them by. Many thanks to them, and to the AWE 737-300s for their many years of faithful service. Blue Skies!
