Saturday 28, 2012: Spotting at KJFK

Anyone planning some spotting at KJFK on Jan 28? I am planning to make my way out there early in the morning.

What would be a good time and location to meet?

Unless you want something specific, a good day at JFK can be had by spending the morning at HoBe spot (see the guide) until Emirates 777 and/or South African A340 departs... then go grab lunch and switch over to arrivals in the afternoon. If on 31s, Panera Bread... if on 22s, The Mounds. If on 13's or 4s, only 13R departures are worth it from Bayswater.

Mornings, if JFK is on the 4s, you've good for arrivals from Bayswater park.

Depend on what configuration will be in use... I hope RW4 L/R departures/arrivals and then 31 R arrivals afternoon, however you never know what configuration will be in use. Call ATIS to check RWYS in use or use scanner. Before I leave on Saturday in the morning I'll leave info after checking configuration whats my plan is.... see you all Saturday!

11am is a good time. I will go by bike to there!
Maybe a little later we have to move because the A380 AF usually arrive at 31L..

Have a great day spotting gentlemen! I am out on the near the very tip of Long Island near Orient Point. Lots of traffic passes through this area. Will try to get a few shot while I'm helping on doing home improvement work. Earlier this morning at 0627, saw the International Space Station pass through, unfornately I left my binoculars back at home. Saw in the early dawn hours Air India 101 heading to JFK.

I may be out tomorrow if the weather is good.
