OK, hopefully we'll get a new Aborigine c/s on an A380 or perhaps another 747-400

How can you do that to the coolest C/S ever? Glad I got her twice in good conditions. R.I.P.

I'll start

First time I saw Wunala Dreaming will be 7 years ago tomorrow. Jan 22nd, 2005
Story from that day, I was really sick on that day. I stayed out as long as possible to shoot Wunala departing. I got the shot and then proceeded to sleep for the next 13 hours.

Hey man, what can I say... I got STARTED TAKING PICTURES very late in the game. My first official spotting outing was HoBe with Mark "Zee71" graciously showing me around back at the end of 2010. I can;t tell you how many times I went to JFK just to look at the Concrde on the ramp and walk the top of the IAT roof... and LGA observation decks and how many times I took Eastern to Florida and got in the cockpit ... and NEVER a picture... ever :-(

Where was NYCAviation and The Internet back then? How come I wasn't lucky to run into Phil or Art Bret or Raj? So, I usually tell myself (while crying myself to sleep that I will never get a nice picture of Wunala or Swiss San Fran, etc.) what Mark H. always tells me... turn around, don't look back, just go home.... there will always be tomorrow and another opportunity!

So, post your Wunala pictures everyone, please... I am still hopeful they will paint a new c/s (perhaps the one on the 737 Wunala right now) on a 747 or better yet, an A380

HA, it was only those two times. Any other time I've been there its been sunrise to sunset shooting and more.

go ahead, Manny will understand.

LOL I was hoping Eric would take the lead.

Since Eric made Manny feel even better with multiple shots I will just post one. It was the summer after myself and Tommy A saw her at LAX and got what we thought were epic rotation shots only to have slight marine layer render them useless. If ya remember summer 2007 it contained many good days of low humidity and temps which is a bonus for us for it cuts down on those hazy skies. I was at the mounds Aug 1 and the wx was very San Diego like. Barely 80 and dry. No bugs no sweating, no other spotters, as I just snapped away anything good that went by without even a radio or checking ACARS.

I see a 747 way out there. The growth wasn't nearly as bad as it is now so you could see clearer. It seemed Red. 747 + Red = I realized spotting Gods were loving me. Double checked all settings on cam, got in a good position and snapped away. Winning.

Year later I got her at the cargo area but she is buried on my old HD. Shot was clean I just am too lazy to edit it. May have to now since it is no more.

Did a quick search on why they painted it new. They say they are going to have a new special scheme! Manny you have a mission!

I first caught her back in 2006 over at the cargo area.

It would be another three years before I caught her again, in good light, both at Firestone and The Mounds.

My biggest disappointment was the departure shot I missed. One late summer afternoon, JFK was departing 31L, and I headed over to HoBe to catch her departing. After they had started to taxi, a thunderstorm blew though, and when the storm cleared, the winds shifted, and I watched as this red 747 departed in the distance off 22L...

Spotters in Sydney are telling me a new kind of Dream Livery will appear soon on the doomed A380 which is being repaired in Singapore right now. The Tech's at Qant-ass think she's haunted after all the stuff thats happened to her and deserve a new identity. I still think Qant-ass should have left this one alone if they are coming up with a new concept for Dream Livery.

Sad to lose "Wunala". I was obsesses with the ANA Pokemon B747 back in the 90's. I even got a schedule of when she came to JFK in advance. I took lots of Video Hi8. I also tried to see Singapore's "Tropical", Alitalia's Perugina and Bulgari. I now rarely see a special livery except for sports teams.

I am sad to admit I never caught her in my camera, I have seen her though...and she shall remain my favorite liveried aircraft ever to take the skies. I am thinking the A380 might get this liver, or the A330...maybe a Q400. Still a shame that they decided to pull the plug on her wonderful livery.:frown:

Manny.....I'm in the same boat, I've seen Wunala Dreaming departing over the house, and have seen it landing. I keep telling myself....."I'll get her next time", and repeated. Unfortuately, for me there was "no more next time". I was hoping that on my last spotting trip to LAX that she would show up, but no dice. Oh well, I guess I'll be just Wunala Dreaming when I sleep.

Let's hope they put the next Aboriginal c/s on the A380 as rumored. If not, it will definitely be on another 744 as officially stated by Qantas that it will do so by end of 2012. So that leaves the 737 Aboriginal c/s and I bet that one is only to be captured in AUS :-(

Saw her once...driving away from the mounds, she flew right over the car in perfect light. If only I had stayed for an extra 30 seconds. Oh well...
