Terrible news. This Airshow season has really been a rough one.

The aircraft crashed in an open area just outside the village of Throop, near to Bournemouth Airport after the elite RAF stunt team had completed a display over the sea front as part of the annual air show.

Only eight of the nine-strong Red Arrows display team landed at Bournemouth Airport after their display for the show went without a hitch.

Onlookers had reported a dazzling display as the RAF Hawk jets painted pictures of love hearts in the sky with trails of pink smoke.

But as the aircraft returned to Bournemouth Airport at around 1.50pm, one of the jets, crashed into an open area outside Throop village.

Reporters from the BBC who were commentating on the air show said they thought it was Red Four that had crashed.

Police and fire crews were in attendance at the scene.
Earlier organisers of the four-day Bournemouth Air Festival had been forced to cancel daytime flying displays on Thursday due to bad weather. The town had been hit by flash flooding earlier in the week, which saw much of the town-centre under water.
More than 220,000 festival goers packed the beach front to watch the flying display on Friday and 85,000 were enjoying the night time displays on Friday night.

The Red Arrows were due to fly on every day of the Bournemouth Air Festival, which was due to finish on Sunday
