I checked out the spotting guide and it has useful info as far as time. I am more interested if those locations are good when the airport is in north ops or south ops for arrivals. Can someone elaborate. Thanks,

Sorry I'm talking about JFK and not LGY or EWR.

JFK is funny and will throw you for a loop... never a solid pattern. BUT, lately, as in much of the summer, 22s for arrivals/departures for Europe and 13s or 31s for domestic/south/west routes.

Winter favors the 31s most of the time.

That being said, you are much much better off listening to the ATIS or Tower (better yet Ground and Approach) to see what is really going on at any one time. Approach and Ground are great for predicting how things will change in the upcoming hour or so.

Thanks a lot for the information. I will head up to the newest A380 heaven with spot B for 22s in-mind and closely monitor approach. I am used to shooting from panera lot for 31s so I hope ti works out.

Make sure you fill up your car, because you may end up doing alot of driving if ATC decides to change runways configurations often.

Nice site Mark. How was shooting @IAD my home airport for someone who is from JFK? You didn't fall a sleep did you?

I drove to JFK on Saturday and came back home with the gold as the Korean Whale landed on 13L.
