Insel Air to launch Curacao – Charlotte from June 2011

Insel Air starting 22JUN11 will launch its 2nd destination in the US – Charlotte. The carrier will start 2 weekly Curacao – Charlotte service on board MD83 aircraft.

Is the an Antillean community in Charlotte, or is that as far as the MD-80 can reach? Seems like an odd choice unless they have a codeshare with US - CLT isn't known for being a fantastic O&D market.

The MD-83 flight range is about 2,500nm. It should do fine on the route..

Insel has an agreement with US that they can codeshare on flights less than 2 hours from Charlotte.

Insel has an agreement with US that they can codeshare on flights less than 2 hours from Charlotte.Thanks! I assumed there had to be some sort of arrangement in place. I saw Insel just picked up another Mad Dog, and this explains why. Good for them, even if I now have another one of theirs to chase after clearing their MD-80 fleet in MIA over Christmas.
