My uncle used to tell me about serving in the army in the South Pacific. It's been a few years, so my memory of his story his a bit hazy (meaning, this wouldn't hold up in court...), but the gist of the story was they had an airstrip and small trainers (Cessnas or something) available for the enlisted men to check out. On particularly windy days with little work to be done, they'd have contests trying to see who could have the shortest rollout. The "tens of feet" wasn't a guarantee of placing, and he claims (again, this wouldn't hold up in court), once or twice on particularly windy days, they managed to land backwards. Wish they had videocameras...

Also, this looks awesome! Agreed with lijk604, it's a great find!

Right after WWII, my father took a few lessons at Flushing Airport, in a Piper Cub. He told me once that on very windy days, guys would come out and grab the wing struts as you were landing to help get in on the ground, and keep it from blowing over.

Looking at that video, I don't know how he could taxi at all without going airborne. What does that plane have in terms of spoilers or anything that can prevent it from flying?

Boy, do I love the Twotter. When I flew from TNCM-TFFJ, I walked onto the plane, had just gotten my seatbeat fastened, and we took off from midfield with tons of runway to spare. There are some great vids of Twotters at Saba, too:
