nice catch on the Kuwait 340, wish we could have stuck around long enough to tag it...and as Eric said, it was great to see a nice group out! I have to admit that as much as I don't like the new Finnair paint, it looks rather impressive in person

It was good seeing everyone today - Kaz and Steve, a pleasure meeting you both. Maybe next time we'll get to hang out a little more. I had a gaggle of out-of-towners with me, and when I left the house this morning, the light rain wasn't making me happy. Fortunately, by the time we hit Bayswater for some morning departures, the sun was out.

After a break for lunch, we stopped at North Woodmere for a bit. While watching a 22L arrival in the distance, I heard a small plane flying overhead, transiting the airport area. I looked up and saw a familiar sight - "Glamorous Gal" heading home.

Awesome shots! What time did you guys go out there today? I need to start waking up earlier on the weekends to get some spotting and photography in. I was waiting for the shuttle bus in the Delta parking lot this afternoon and it was pretty interesting watching some of these aircraft put up a fight with the wind.

Okie, some of mine. Air Quality was pretty bad today and it showed in post :-( But it was fun, and the new Finn c/s and A340 from Kuwait back to back was a nice closing highlight.

Nice set there Manny! I saw that same exact China Eastern and the Jet Blue catching a very nice crosswind on approach.

Great catches guys.... That speedbird go around was impressive from my view.... By the time she crossed midfield she was already near 3,000 feet again.... When she came back around to 13L another BA 744 landed on 13R which made it look like LHR for a few seconds...... Moose.... SAA almost always uses everything aviailable.... When we are on the 4's in the morning she routinely uses everything but about the last 1,000 feet to get off... Nice grab on the Jets jet too... She was headded to Nassau if I recall...

It was a pleasure to come down again and finally get to meet Kaz, Manny, Mark (zee71), eric, Moose and many others. I had a blast hanging with Kaz and Manny most of the day. Thank for showing me a couple of nice spots Manny. I definitely will be using those next time around. Im in the middle of editing right now and headed out for lunch. You're right about that Manny. The unfortunate part about that though is that the light was REALLY horrible before i met up with Kaz. I think i was able to save a few though. I'm done editing. I will post them tonight after i return from bowling.

Steve, absolutely great output... thanks for the kind words on my help... but we didn;t really make much time to play with settings and photography as we were kept pretty busy with the traffic.

I have an idea, why don;t we swap cameras for a few shots next time. I'll take your camera and try to get the best out of it (NEVER used a Canon before so results may be really poor LOL.) but if I get anything decent, we'll compare notes. You then get to do the same with mine. I definitely know what pictures should look like with my camera and thereby we can exchange ideas for better pictures... deal? :cool:

EDIT:
One more thing. What meter did you have selected throughout the day? What mode? Aperture Pri or Shutter PRi or Program Auto? Any compensation?

You're welcome for the kind words Manny. Thank you for your's as well. I know we didn't take any time to play with settings, but I just set it up like we had sort of discussed through email. Turned out working pretty good. I adjusted throughout the day (sometimes changing settings every other plane) since the light would not stay consistent. That does sound like a good idea next time I come down. I had such a blast yesterday that I'm not sure if I will be able to wait til the middle of April. I may be back in a couple weeks. Thanks for opening my eyes up to some other places to spot from. I am definitely hooked on JFK.
