I have to go to ATL for a weekend in May and since I am traveling without the wife and kids I can choose the flights I want, the basic choises I see are
DL- 737 or 757
Air Tran 717
or Amer. Eagle CRJ-700

all the same fares from LGA, JFK is about $100 more I guess because of no one else flys the route.

I would take DL then FL then AA. It just depends what frequent flier program you're part of. I think SkyMiles is the best of the three (DL).

Aircraft wise, DL operates a 767-300 on the last JFK-ATL flight of the evening and the same aircraft on the 12:20 pm return. Back in the day, LGA used to see the L1011 and 767-400 to and from ATL.

As far as frequent flier programs go, I think there is a reasons SkyMiles are also known as SkyPesos. For miles, I would choose AA. DL has in the past flown a 747-400 and A330 on the JFK-ATL-JFK run on occasion.

Hmm...what are your gripes with SkyMiles?

It has been virtually impossible to redeem miles at the low or medium level. I also don't like the fact that on DL, you can only redeem miles for upgrades at certain fare classes. I've had more success redeeming miles at the AA saaver level. Also, I've been able to upgrade many flights on AA using miles regardless of fare class purchased although I'm not a fan of now having to pay a copay + miles to upgrade. As a Platinum member of AAdvantage, I've been treated well.
