Decided to spend a little time on this fine day spotting at Firestone. Between Panera being open, and a half-way snow plowing job, there wasn't anywhere to park along the fence, so I ended up near the middle of the lot (near the end of one of the rows of cars) and met Fred from the Airpower Museum (not Derf, the other Fred).
We were standing outside shooting, and about 15 minutes after I got there, a Nassau County patrol car pulled into the lot and drove over to us. He said it looked like great weather for photography, really good visibility. He said "I have absolutely no problem with you guys being out here shooting, but I need you to do me one favor. If you see anything suspicious, give us a call, alright?" We chatted for a few minutes, he said most of the time when they check us out it is because someone called it in, so they have to give us a look. He wished us well, and headed over to the police booth.
All in all, a very good encounter.
