Hi,
Its snowing for the zillionth time and what else to do but open up some old folder. Heres some of my random DC10 shots.

We start in snowy season... yes this was taken from Delta (PanAM) terminal where the middle of the fence just had a door that was not locked all the time!

Again, its not the best polished anet stuff, but just some variety to look at from our beloved airfield.

Thanks Manny, yeah I should upload more. BTW, no football this weekend and I am off. Really leaning towards driving to south to spot with the group on Sunday.

Great stuff to say the least. Push the pedal to the metal and join the gang!!! Unfortunately, we might get snow showers on Saturday, but Sunday still looks good.

Freedom! Now this is quality vintage!

Raj, amazing set. I love this Air Afrique shot as it was a very popular airline where I come from (the old France-Western Africa connection). They used to show these planes on the news all the time.

Thanks guys, appreciate nice comments. I did leave out couple of very regular visitors at Kennedy. And also will end the post with few close up that defines classic DC10.

I believe this was at one point twice a week only... a true workhorse

One of my fav colors on DC10... and them inboard flaps seems like just massive planks that slowed down the jetliner

One of the best nose of an airliners.... classic McDonald slanted nose gear and the location far behind the cockpit.

Raj, great shots. When was this taken? I assume this is around the 1980s or early 1990. I remember by 1994-5 when I began the spotting hobby, Air Afrique was using A-310 and there was no JAT service to JFK.

I should upload some of my old photo of AA-727 into JFK, too.

If you EVER decide to perhaps clean up and re-edit some of these, I'd be proud to help out... WOW!!

I took liberty of retouching some to see what they would look like :-)

O Man... great editing. Yes I should devote more time as I use to but having a 7 yr and constant snow does comes in way of hobby! We just came back from digging a tunnel!

Anyway, it means a lot coming from experts. I will have to open up some of them in PS5 or LR3 and edit them.

Thank you again for taking time and showing what difference good editing can make.

Raj- simply amazing to say the least. Such vintage deliciousness!

Given what we've just seen, am I even allowed to post this Costco shot???

Anytime... as Manny showed how any shots can be precious with good editing. In those days, never thought how post 9/11 world will be, there were few of us who just loved to spend a day at Kennedy, listen ATC and spot and click some shots along the way. I loved watching 4 Concorde movements in a day!. I will never forget when it departs off 22R and we could stand at the fence right there and the rumble is shaking the heart literally!. BTW, I am not even sure I have AA DC10 at Kennedy (have to dig up some old shoebox of prints), so thanks for posting and adding to the thread.

I agree with you Tad, I had no clue either at the time, I was just happy my shots were coming out. I would have been up poopy crick had I been shooting slide film.

If we're talking about old DC-10 photos...

I shot these in March 1981, at Hangar 14.

You should have stopped at PS#1 in Lawrence first and picked me up- it's not like I was doing anything important in 2nd grade- that would have been totally awesome

Love the PA 707's in the background

I worked as a security guard at the Pan Am hangars during college. The 707s were being retired at the time, they had a bunch of them lined up down at Hangar 14.

Let's not forget the sexiest of DC10s and USAF aircraft out there still flying today..

While she may be getting old, worn out, and not as gucci as she used to be, there's not one airframe that can match the combined capabilities, from refueling to cargo that she has to offer... Not to mention she's still a lot of fun to fly!

Holy Douglas Batman!!! Fantastic shots of a gone era, no matter what the quality, which are quite good I think! The views of the old IAB remind me of standing on that Worldport roof as a kid, man how that landscape has changed...

Great stuff, brings back lots of memories. I was actually sitting at home looking for some of my older DC-10 slide scans. I was thinking of posting them here but you beat me to it. Most of my shots are from EWR anyway.

Again, nice stuff, thanks.

AJ, man don't hold back, believe me it's always fun to see similar shots with different techniques. BTW you got any head-on shot of AZ-CO DC10? Post any if you got them.

Hey Raj,

I did shoot the AZ/CO DC-10 head-on but doubt if I still have the slide, will look anyway. I will add some shots tonight when I get home.

Unfortunately, most of my scans are low quality, too many slides at the time.

The DC-10 series made any and every livery look gorgeous. My favorite JFK'er's probably being Air Afrique, Trans America and JAT. National DC-10's just looked frigging majestic when they came in for base/long-final approach to LGA over Park Slope.

Amazing to think you could walk around the Pan Am roof top and take pictures all day long.

Everytime I smell Jet-A, it brings back memories from those hot summer days at JFK, when the jet fumes were blowing in your face. The best of times!

WOW , speechless. PanAm & Scandi DC10. This is time machine indeed, I remember the fumes too! And we use to climb on the ledge on PanAm roof and just sit with the scanner and spend a whole afternoon. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Sergio,
That picture of the Ghana Airways DC-10 reminded me of a story I'd read when I was a member of a yahoo group which became rather popular following all the mass parking of commercial aircraft following 9.11.01 I believe this is the same aircraft referenced in this post. Former N140AA which became 9G-AND
