Made it out late morning and had the pleasure of meeting Mark, spent a couple of hours together. Weather was nice but it got pretty grey out so the lighting was not the greatest.

Enjoy,

Kaz

Kaz glad you made it. Sorry about today, I had to be gone by 10:30am so I got there before the sun came up and headed to Bayswater which was closed :-( They were using the 4s for a little bit and then they started to use 31R for departures normally done on 31L because 31L was closed for some maintenance until around 1:00pm (as per ATC) so I went back to Woodmere for some banking shots of 4L takeoffs but they were turning 100 degrees at 1.5 DME and it was not so great.

Too bad about the light. The Mounds in the morning is only really good for 22R and until the sun crosses over 22.

Hey Kaz..........it was a pleasure meeting you and shooting with you. I took a quick buzz around the airport and then headed home as the light started to get ugly. Haven't gotten a chance to see what I got yet. Your images seem a little under exposed to me, I'm not sure what metering mode you were shooting, I would recommending that when the sky is grey to use spoting or center weighted metering as opposed to evaluative metering to see if your image is better exposed. Additionally, you can always look at your historgram and then increase or decrease your exposure compensation as needed.

I agree with Mark... what I do is keep my Matrix Meter on but will overexpose by 1 to 1.3 and sometimes +2 stops. Your histogram is your friend... but you also need to know about where the data is placed. You want really pyramid shaped histograms not narrow spikes in the center :-) but then that's a whole other story!

Mark, looking forward to seeing your pics from yesterday

Here is an example under the SAME EXACT conditions from the same spot :-) Skies were essentially white and sun behind it casing it to look like you were staring at a softbox LOL. +3 exposure comp Matrix Meter, exposure comp set manually using histogram.

Manny, what program do you use to edit ?

I did play with the exposure on these when I was editing, but I did the reverse, took some exposure away.. Hmmm .. I have to go back to Flickr and adjust them

Lightroom 3.3 and Photoshop CS5 almost exclusively. Unless I absolutely need exact WB and then I will use Nikon Capture NX 2 but only in an emergency :-)

Much better tweak :-) Always remember when you don;t have enough light, it is best to spot for fun... and for your personal collection. You will never pull a bad image into a good one no matter how much you try :-)

Kaz,

Here are a few of my images from Saturday. Yes! I had to do some post processing to cleanup and enhance the images.

Here my version of the Air China:

Kaz, they look much better now..

Mark, what's up with that TAM? Was it dirty like that or was it some sort of new scheme? :-)

That's the TAM special livery in which all the employees signed it.
