anyone take in the festive shopping ritual this morning? my brother went all out and spent a good $1300 buying stock for his store. 4-ft ladders for $18 and 12-gallon shop vacs for $30. his only limiting factor was the size of our van.

i went another route:

200-pc craftsman socket and wrench set, b-day gift for my brother. normally $200, i got it for only $100.

oscilating multi-cutter tool that works off 12V batteries i already have, $160 instead of $210.

sadly the rest of my christmas shopping has to wait 'till next paycheck...

Not me... I am staying clear of shopping today LOL. I will do all of it on-line.

Nice set of toys...

Black Friday to me is a media generated event....and is for nut jobs! LoL I recommend staying clear for anyplace that resembles a mall. The best thing to do is deal with the small business man or do on-line shopping as Manny stated. If you do head out for Black Friday...........good luck!

I don't go shopping on Black Friday, but I may go out shooting a little later, depending on the weather. I did see these folks last night at the Best Buy in Westbury. I actually saw them out at around 4pm, but got this shot around 7:30pm.

I got that same set for the same price as a graduation gift to myself in June. Sears has a bunch of "black friday" deals that are just more hyped of versions of their normal sales.
Good choice though! I'm happy with it.

I won't go anywhere near shopping this weekend. Unfortunately my logic doesn't spread to my family. My wife and daughter are headed to the mall just about now ;)

At least it gives you a few hours of peace and quiet around the house, Art.

surprisingly i'm the only one in my family not working today, rather strange feeling for an airline employee. i'm nowhere near camping outside a best buy, but these two deals i didn't want to pass up.

I also thought about the weather and see if I could snag the Finair MD-11. But, conspiracies again... flight was very late and the sun NEVER showed through in Queens as predicted it would. It did hit the skyline around 4:25pm, just 5 minutes before it sunk deep behind the horizon.

Interestingly, the traffic on the highways was very very light... however, local traffic in shopping areas was HORRENDOUS!

$7.99 for a SanDisk 4GB SDHC card, normally $29.99 at Staples. got the last one at the Store I went to in Linden,NJ around 1145 this morning. Also picked up up an 8 GB HP USB Flash Drive for $11. Back at the mall got a decent seeming Bubble jacket for only $9.99 at Burlington Coat Factory, still had a variety of colors and sizes at 1300. One of those rare cases where the item actually looked better in person than in the add. Will see how it holds up, seems pretty decent so far !
