Had a whole hour to myself this past Sunday before the family got together for a pre-Thanksgiving dinner. What better way to spend sunrise than at the local airport. It was a slow Sunday morning, and this is what I grabbed...

The first is just for Manny. His shooting in the dark, made me want to at least try. I don't have the ISO 6400 capability he did, but for 5 minutes before sunrise, it wasn't bad. Definitely not Anet or JetPhoto quality, but it was something new to try:

I then repositioned to where I would have the rising sun behind me and got these four better lit shots before leaving:

Nice John! I was wondering what that yellow thing was on the fuselage of the WN birds now. I saw it at PHX but couldn't make it out.

John! THANK YOU for that inspiring set of images. And here I am thinking I won't get much. And of course thanks for the plug :-) I do love evening, dusk, darkness shoots. It helps with the addiction

My fave of the bunch has to be the South West. If I catch that, I can go home happy for the day.

May I ask, what spot in the guide did you get these from?

Cheers!

Thanks guys!

Manny, all except the sunrise shot were taken from Spot "B". Had airport ops drive by inside the fence, but no LE's came by to say "hello" to me. I had once encounter there in the past but it was a good one. Cop just wanted to check me out and then asked how long I planned on staying.

The US Airways Express shot was taken from the hockey rink parking lot, just north of the terminal. If you are on the road that leads you into the terminal, just go one more light north, looks like the last entrance to the airport. Make a left into the hockey rink parking lot it's a sloped lot, and as long as you stay in your car, you should not have any problems. They just don't want people who are flying parking there. I've never had a LE encounter there, in fact, one time I shot from there, a cop was having lunch in that lot. When he was done he drove right past me.
