Considering they are standing straight up on their skids while the tail sits somewhere else is a testimony to good piloting skills, luck or both.
And I believe they werent very high up either.

well there isn't much you can do when you lose the tail rotor... less even when you lose the entire boom. i'd love to find out how the pilots recovered and walked away from that one!

Read in a few places that the engine failed a minute after take-off, the pilot did an auto-rotation but came down hard which snapped the tail off but they landed on the skids upright. Pretty wild.
